Regarding nepotism in Kathmandu University, there has been number of letters published from the faculties as well as KUPA in e-kantipur (24-27 May). Hi bhunte……you look to be an interesting one, knowing facts but never associated with KU. I guess all here are some time associated with KU, either students or faculties……or some relatives.
KUMS, most of time you guys have critical analysis. But these topless tops of KU are not like girija and shere…they could apologize, but these…….I also heard about Dr. N Thapa, He is a great man, and finally couldn't sustain in KU....all great leave from it. I heard that Dr. sharma called his brother from BPKIHS to KUMS, but he also regret the inside politics and left KUMS to join somewhere in Birgunj. We don’t need to prove Bhola thapa, brijesh and Manish…….we all know their so called capacity… How can we forget those sleepy days?
Yesterday, in khojtalash, a protest in KU and fighting with locals “so called sayungta jan andolan committee”, was reported. But there is no update in other portals. I worried for gloomy grilling of KU TOPS.. God should have mercy on them!!!

Chante, some of us are current living victims of KU - you are right about that. You are also right that great staff like Dr. Navin Thapa were with KU and helped us move ahead. I do not blame them for moving ahead in their lives because people like him can get job any where in USA, UK etc. I heard also that Dr. Thapa has told staff in KUMS he is returning. I hope he does come back becuse, I recall how like some of us literally could not sleep during the break up of KUMS. He was the one guy on the side of students because he was also the Director of Student Affairs. I donot know if Dr. Thapa will return now that there are even more protests in KU. We think we need people like him; who think first about the students and the institution before their personal interests. Dose anyone have Dr. Thapa's address? We should write to ask him to return to KU or atleast Nepal.

The conspiracy theories about the KU struggle seem to grow ever more fascinating. We have heard of nepotistic fathers giving jobs to their sons and daughters like Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma and Dr. Sitaram Adhikary but now it seems possible sons like Dr. Sameer Dixit can find jobs for his father Dr. Sundar Mani Dixit as VC of KU! I doubt Dr. Sameer is working for KUPA on behalf of his father. This must an allegation spread by present leaders of KU to weaken KUPA.

Kums Ji time will tell who is using who..and by the way who is this Boris niraula everybody going after? Is he nepali or some half nepali half...? sounds odd.....

Nakale Kancha, you are probably right that many people are trying to take advantage of the situation in KU. I hope politics and politicking will be obliterated from the field of education by the future generations of Nepalis but the sign are not good. I miss teachers like Dr. Sharad Onta and Dr. Navin Thapa. I hope KU has not lost them eternally.

Fragerence has given revearling insights to the sortof people who work in KU. There is another person just ike Suresh B. Shrestha in KUMS and that is Dr. Nastu Sharma - with little talent; he has used his cunningness to become one of the top leaders of KUMS. He even managed to get PhD from Thailand while working in KUMS and we won't be surprised if he becomes future registrar when Dr. Ram Kantha will get on the throne of VC. Oh! The thought makes me sad.

Oh I see S. B. KUMS jee I;ve already told you, if you guys get support from people lke Surendra Raj Kafle, S.B. Shrestha then no body is going to listen you. If you read my postings I'm never against SuResh Raj Sharma, Sitaram and Bhadraman. They should always be respected, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't point out their mistakes.
And For everybodys kind information, I never became victim of KU, even surendra kafle used to get scared of me although I was student over there. I always used to point out his cunnig nature.

According to my info, Suresh B. Shrestha is very cunning teacher of KU. Some staffs of KU have complained that Suresh B. Shrestha was really dangerous.

Once he entered into Guleli Dean's office and snatched one lady staff off the Guleli's embrace as Guleli was trying to teach her how to make photocopy by putting his both hands on her bosoms.

Similarly, there is another incident when he annoyed Brijesh Sir by peering into the Kitchen of Registrar's quarter in KU. Till that time Brijesh was telling that his wife was inside the kitchen. However, S.B. Shrestha , in the pretext of bringing a glass of water, dragged out another female staff of KU from Registrar's quarter's kitchen when Brijesh was there alone. Later on Suresh B. Shrestha forced Brijesh sir to do something which we are not sure of but Brijesh sir has remained resentful of Suresh B. Shrestha since then.

BNY, you are right that he used to visit Govinda Raj Joshi. I do not know what is the reason behind his visiting Govinda Raj Joshi but I heard that Dinesh Raj is quite afraid of Suresh B. Shrestha. It is rumoured that Suresh B. Shrestha and Dinesh Raj were friends from their ASCOL days. Ha ha ha...Anybody who knows more info on this are welcome to give your views.

Based on reports of Fragerence and BNY; KU has been well infiltrated by scums with low morals. I wonder how these people ever managed to teach. We vilify people like Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha and Dr. Nastu Sharma for their arrogance but they are not off their rockers like this Suresh Bhakta Shrestha. In his interview, SBS actually labels Dr. Ram Kantha as his junior in academic terms and he should have been in the senate and not Dr. Ram Kantha- I doubt this, as well. It leads me to believe this Suresh Bhakta Shrestha bloke is a real megalomaniac. God help KUMS and KU with people like them. I cannot see proper solution to KU/KUMS. I miss respectable teachers like Dr. Sharad Onta and Dr. Navin Thapa . Even Dr. Arjun Karki was highly arrogant, and that also led to his downfall because he thought he was superior to all those around him - even those who were more qualified than him!

It seems that you have forgotten something basic about Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha. What we heard about Suresh B. Shrestha is a hearsay and rumours only. There are chances that these rumours are spread by Suresh Raj and his Chamchas because of Mr. Suresh B. Shrestha's bold stance against Nepotism in KU. Moreover, you failed to understand what I said earlier which threw ample light on characters like Guleli and Brijesh.

Now, You think that Ram Kantha Makaju is only arrogant, then you do not know how long does it take for Mr. Ram Kantha to lower his pant, half-pant and under-pants before jumping to the bed with his Bideshi swasni.

Believe me, these are his own words and you must have heard these words also. If you don't belive me? Ask Mr. Ram Kantha himself who openly claims that people call him mad (Paagal or Bahulaha or something like that) . Suresh B. Shrestha has rightly claimed that Ram Kantha is his junior. Somewhere Suresh B. Shrestha (Don't Ask Me Where?) has claimed that if there would be VC of his choice in KU, he would control all these local protests. Whatever they are now, it is because of Prof sharma. If there is not a system but a person dominate, these types of jantu haru ...... will be anytime and anywhere.. Looks like one is totally agains VC and his nears and other is strong supporter of VC. As you've said " aba hamile Suresh Raj ko birodhi haru lai hannu parchh hai", If you say like that then it proves that there is pure Nepotism in KU, even if you are like son of Suresh Raj then you are not supposed to say like that. I also respect Suresh Raj, but I don't mind to point out his mistakes, of course Suresh Raj Sharma has done many mistakes in KU, but his great and good qualities supress his points, that's why he always gets respect from neutral people like us.

If he becomes autocratic, then definitely he looses neutral people's support, finally his situation will be like King Gyanendra. He knows about it, he will definitely start to negotiate with his oppositions. I donlt even like the democratic word for KU, there shoud be pure merit system, no one should enter KU without the merit. If you mean this is democratic then I agree this.
I heard that even academic quality of KU is becoming worse than worst. A fresh computer graduate looks for job in architect and analyst instead of a programmer. IN america after working for at least 5-6 years as programmer then one can only look for analyst or architect. This means that there is no any programming practice over there. They don't even have guts to program and they think that an analyst or architect doesn't need to program, that's what current teachers teach over there. An architect or analyst should be 10 times knowledgable in programing than a coder.

I agree with BNY that KU is ages behind in academic rigours of the West and this is not solely Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma's fault because he is a product of an older era. But this should not be an excuse to hold back developments in KU - I hope the people who are crying for change realize how tough the task is of taking over from Dr. Sharma and repacing him with not just an individual but a team aware of academia as it ought to be. For this, We miss people like Dr. Sharad Onta and Dr. Navin Thapa.

I ment merit system as a core for democratic nerms..Basically academic quality of KU is falling because of suppressing research activities in KU. The tops says they are promoting, but in fact they are inhibiting the research by imposing almost impossible rules to alow creative works. Indead, young researcher are applying for research funds, and they are getting too, but KU want unnecessary controls over it. If KU donot fascilitate research by his own fund, it should not impose unproductive rules. This is the main reseason that productive and talented faculties are moving away leaving only gafadis and chakadibas...or so called relatives in KU.
I just wish to sweep this nepotism.We may give one more chance to Prof sharma if he is ready to act democratically..But it may be best to have new administration...at least changing registrar, deans and program directors.......

The best teacher in KU is Kietel Filastat from norway. He is the best. I ranked him 10 out of 10 in control system. His techniques are really fruitful and I am applying those skills in my work place. The only one thng I have learned from KU. Rest was like a hell.
