Please dont think about to go any other country. Save money and your status. This year is election year Obama wants to stop H1B worker in this way, if you go to canada and other country, they will send back to you home country to stamping. So be advised that , current year is full of risk. Once the election will over then you can go anywhere.

Go to Nepal, H1B visa are almost guaranteed. I have gotten mine stamped twice in 2008 & 2011. Although on second stamping, Embassy could not issue me visa on the window because my name did not show up on their system. They requested me to leave my passport. I called them in about a week, they said visa was ready to be picked up. It is also good to go back home especially if you have not been back in years. Now if you want a peace of mind, apply for Canada or U.K. visitor's visa first. That way, you won't fear of being stuck in Nepal. I personally wish were all not afraid of being in Nepal. I guess we are all victims of social paranoia. By the way, your H1B visa has nothing to do with Obama etc. If you believe you have earned it, go home freely.

My sister lives in Australia and currently my parents are there and they will be staying there for a year. I am planning to give them a visit during Dashain (Oct-Nov).
here is my situation
1. Currently I am on H1B, it was approved last year. This will be my first time stamping.
2. I am a full time employee with health/Dental benefits at a small company (35-40 employee)
3. My pay is slightly above market prevailing wage.
4. I have US undergraduate degree in Computer Science.
Since my family currently resides in Australia, I have no reason to visit Nepal.
I went through couple of forum about H1B stamping at Sydney Consulate. The information is mixed. Further I checked at state department website, and it says that home country is recommended.
Any suggestion will be helpful.

"Obama wants to stop H1B worker in this way"
You really think he has nothing better to do but worry about devising plans to stop H1B workers?

My H1b was approved in 2010. I work for a large corporation (10000+ employees) with a decent paying full time job. I'm planning to visit around the end of November. The elections will have ended by then, safe?
Thanks,

Ratata, You can get a visitor's visa to Australia with your family's reference. Then, you can make a trip to Nepal via Australia. Apply for H1b Visa in Nepal. The situation you have stated is really good. I am not sure if Australia provides multiple entry visa for the first time. There are always what if situations. Anything should go wrong in Nepal, chances of which are slim, you could return to Australia. Are you a direct hire ?

abcdipan thank you for your response.
Yes I am a direct hire.
I have got visitor visa for Australia. Is it mandatory that I need to go to my home country for first time stamping. Or can i just get it from Sydney Consulate.

Ratata: you can apply from Sydney Consulate too. Worst case scenario, they will ask you to go to Nepal & apply again. Seems like your priority is to visit your family. Your advantage is that you have visitor's visa to Australia. You should not heistate to meet your family because of fear of visa rejection. You have earned your H1b through a direct hire. Usually the interview question is, " How did you get your job ? ". Yeah there will always be a doubt, but nothing will overcome the joy of visiting parents after a long time.
Karishma: election, economy, change in government etc. type of thing have nothing to do with you obtaining the H1b Visa. If you are confident about your job, you will get the visa entry back to the United States.

I went to Vancouver, Canada last month. It was very smooth and most of the candidates were getting approved without any issues. Few things you need to be aware of. Only go to Canada if you have US degree( this is must) , continous employment since you started working on H1 ( good to have all the paystubs) and your employer is not black listed.
I would recommened you go Nepal or travel with a peace of mind.

Thanks Ziljan4!
I've both Bachelors and Masters Degree from US university and also I've continuous employment since my H1B was approved. Can you please let me know regarding the process of going to canada ? do I have to get visa for Canada? And if yes what are the procedures? do I've to go to Canadian embassy for visa or can I just send my documents to Canadian embassy? And also any documentation required? How long does it take to get Visa for Canada?
If you dont mind sharing, what are the cost related for the whole process and how long did you stay in Canada?
Thanks so Much!
