Hello fellow sajha friends, 
      I assume most of you are educated, intelligent people. I wanted to have a discussion about paranormal claims and why do people believe these claims. I define paranormal activities as reading mind, predicting future, healing, and many other unscientific claims. I can understand people who are unaware of critical thinking believing these things but why do educated people believe these garbage. Let's have a talk about this. 

I am only trying to create skeptical thinking among us.

If you believe in GOD than you must believe in DEVIL ! there is always a balance of nature which is positive and negative points in spritual term its GOD and DEVIL !

 I understand the attraction towards balance but why do we suspend our critical thinking ? Shouldn't every big claim be proved or backed up by evidence. 

(People like Sai Baba (and many other faith healer and etc) doing magic is the type of utter nonsense I am getting sick of hearing)

 Scientific explanations of things are not the ceiling. Science is wayy behind in terms of understanding nature, spirituality, and universe...but they are trying and are in tip of the iceberg. You have to dig more through research and learning..

--Haha! this might epitomize why we believe in all the things the original poster posted. The advancement science has made especially in regards to universe is the testament of human ingenuity and curiosity. Before dismissing it, you must be able to show what else explains the universe better than science. Palm readers? Astrologers?

One has to remember, just because something hasn't been explained, you cannot give it a supernatural connotation. Science is a self-regulating, self-correcting discipline. The very controversy that surrounds scientific issues is the fact that there is a continous discourse and experimentation. Indeed, science has just scratched the tip of the iceberg, that is why there is so much to learn!

Horoscopes, palm readers, and all the con artists give you hope even if it is seemingly false. Hope is a very powerful weapon. :)

First of all i like to say to the poster don't call people dumb. Its like calling urself as the smarest person in the world. i believe u r but i don't know .

SCIENCE IS NOTHING OUT OF UNIVERSE. WHATEVER SCIENTIEST HAS FOUND ITS ALL WITHIN AND FROM THIS UNIVERSE. LIKE GRAVITATINAL FORCE,RADIATION AND SO ON WTEVER IT IS. I DON'T THINK ANY SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES R OUT OF UNIVERSE. SO ITS STILL A LONG WAY TO UNDERSTAND THE UNIVERSE.

I WILL GIVE U SIMPLE EXAMPLE.

2. I MY SELF HAD ENCOUNTER THE SO CALLED PARANORMAL ACTIVITES BUT I CAN'T PROVE IT TO U COZ THOSE THING R VERY RARE N HAPPEN TO SOME PERSON BUT CAN'T PROVE IT.

I STILL WONDER BOUT THE INCIDENT I HAVE BEEN THRU N THERE IS NO EXPALNATION FOR THAT AND FYI I AIN'T DUMB.

Hi NepaliMato, could you please share with us ur paranormal experiences? I also truly believe that somethings happen or feel a sense of different dimension of which we just cannot comprehend. I have had few experiences too but like I said I just cannot explain it. So if you could share your experience I could try to relate it to my incidents..Btw Paranormal Activities 3 is releasing today at Midnight....Can't wait to see it....

--You're not the only one. There are millions in the world who claim to have seen ghosts, abducted by aliens, seen heaven/hell (thankfully we haven't anyone encounter brahma bisnu and maheswor yet). Yet, among those millions, not one has a concrete piece of evidence to prove it. I remember as a kid using this phrase often "mero ghar ma pani soooon ko hatti cha" but then I don't have credentials to nitpick. Hence, I use my favourite physicist Carl Sagan who couldn't have said it better

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"

In a serious vein, if you're continually experiencing paranormal activities, you might be suffering from a much serious condition that might need due attention. I really hope you explore that avenue before trying to prove that is not out there.

 @ NepaliMAto,    I did not call anyone dumb, I only wanted to use a controversial tittle for marketing purpose (as I have said earlier) just like herman cain uses 9-9-9. (However his substance is bull s hiiit too). i am gald to every one giving their honest opinion. 
  Also, I totally agree with pulsar_beat. Science gave us I-Pad and religion gave 9-11 and may other genecide and war.

I am a person who believes in science and if I can explain things scientifically, I will do just that. But a few things have happened to me in life that has made me believe that this world goes beyond science. In order for you to believe in these stuffs, it has to happen to you. Nobody can make you believe in it, only you can decide.

 Sadly, I do not buy any of these personal anecdotes. These are nothing but mere exaggeration and falsification of reality. Also I am not advocating for so called edcated foolish people. All I want is for people to think about things critcally and make logical decision. Pls stop making absurd claims and conclusion.

I dont need to play the lottery to be a millionaire, there are many other ways to become one. But sadly, in order for you to become a believe you have to wait for your day to come.
