Nas dai,
I am not talking about that. Just wondering if you know any RNs working there around Dallas or have any ideas. Hope you provide me helpful information. Your suggestions would be much better.
Thanks, Sami.

Good luck finding one ! Don't hope for sponsorship right now but you can always check around Methodist Hospital at medical center in San Antonio . They are hiring at the moment.

you should have started searching for jobs/OPTs 3-4 months before you graduated. it'll take 2-3 months for the institution to sponsor you as their intern/assistant, or whatever. this is the case for most of the students doing biomedical sciences. i'm not sure how it exactly works for nursing, i don't think it's that different.
also, talk to medical colleges in houston, they collaborate with a lot of hospitals in the area and might be able to place you somewhere.
good luck!

it's hard in the beginning. the hardest part is to overcome your mind and make decision. once you decide and move on, everything will work out. if you are serious about your career, don't hesitate to hop out of your comfort zone and try things. i'll graduate from my college in a few months and move to a completely new state where i know noone. but not having anyone i know there ain't gonna stop me because just like you said, gotta lose something to gain something.

What do you mean by you don't know anybody in California? Look up Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland. There are more than 2-4 thousand Nepalese in the Area. You can live like a Paying Guest or even find roommates with limited ease. Further, Nurses in the state make anywhere between 20-65 bucks/ hour. In the City itself (SF), nurses start at 45/hr or so...

Thanks for ur suggestions footyfan. I know it is much more fun to move to a new place. Do you know any nepalese nurses working in SF. I heard california is pretty expensive. How easy it is to get rooms and roomate? It would be great. I think you already in SF right.

I think it's not so hard to find RN job in Texas. I know one girl moved to Arlington from Virginia and got RN in Texas where she is working now. She was in F1 but I dont know other details though.

Samikshya, I can't tell you for sure if/how many Nepali girls are working in Bay Area as RNs but I know quite a few Philipinas working in the area (along with Africans). Try looking up Kaiser Permanente or other hospitals. Also, if you were to find a job, you can find a roommate in no time.

I have never thought it would be so much stressful after finishing ur school. Nyway im trying to get over all the stress and about roomates- how do i contact nepalese? I think I shud go to Nepalese Association or something ...hmm..

hello Samikshya,
I also had the same problem as yours. well i graduated on may 21, 2011 and got my license from New york on july 28. I had couple of interviews here but no luck. Thats why i planned to move out in texas from New york this week. The reason why i am moving is coz i dont have any option and my opt doesnt have enough time as well.. what i suggest is just keep applying any where like nursing home, home care, hospitals or any where. Personally i applied around 20 places and got response from 3 places N still no luck. But now i knew someone who is helping me to get job in home care nursing. It wasnt my choice but i am doing coz i didnt have any option. I applied job before my graduation and after i got license. But i didnt get anything. N there is fraustation coz when u apply the hospitals and if the position is filled or u had an interview, but the recuriter wont tell anything either the position is filled or not. So, once u apply, u should keep calling nursing recuriter everyweek which shows that you are really interested in that job.
Any way good luck for finding job but first pass your board exam which is ur first prirority and if u need help on that i had some handouts that i found in internet like around 30 pages, it would help u to get the content knowledge. Well all three neplease students from my college read that handout and it was so helpful that when u do kaplan, u will feel this would be the answer. Well i m not giving advice no how to study... but thats what i did....
finally, keep on applying anywhere and dont limit ur self in one place....
.....

Thanks thapar. It was great suggestions. I know it is too much stress....to find job and find a place to move too. So, u know I really wanted to move those place where I can do master after 1 years ...u know the place with lot of opportunities. I want to be nurse practicioner before 2015( changing nursing education system) and before I am 25 years old. Now I am almost 22 years old. So want to do my master too. Thats why thought Texas, California or bigger cities would be better place where I can find better college afterwards too. Do you have any idea about 2015? They said u have to have doctor degree to be a nurse practicioner or nurse anesthetist????? everything is confusing :)
Thanks,
Sami

Hello samishkya,
You are right abt the NP program. But still one year experience in med-surgical unit in hospital wont let u make the candidate for NP. well it depends also among the universities. I also did BSN n had the dream of becoming NP but right now the jobs are hard to find. It's true that in bigger cities it is easier to find job but also you should have connection or know someone who can help you. If you wana do masters why don't u do in texas.. its cheaper but last time when i was looking for the requirements in UTA, they asked for experienced like a year or more in ICU or med surgical unit. Right now what i feel is, staying in one state and applying in another state is hard to get job. from your comment, it shows that u havent given ur board exam yet. Do it first and dont wait N remember that it is not a easy exam. Well if you are confident that u gona pass then finish your business first.
If you have a dream of becoming NP or nurse anestheologist, then do it or you wana join masters then some universities dont even need any experiences. But at the end u will have disadvantages becz of lack of experiences. N it is tough to get a job at desired position if you are F1. I appled at HCA of texas, Baylor regional medical center and some others too. But never get any response N I did called them but they never picked my call. I applied in OK,NC, MI, MA, NY but still I was unlucky.... Well i am not saying that u will face same problem as I did.. But eventually everyone will get job, its abt the time. I actually googled the hospitals in different state and applied from the hospital website. I didn't worried abt the place where should I stay may b becz i am used to living alone and i am guy... So.. dont worry if you dont know anyone.. U will know once u go outthere... It only matters whether u get job or not. So, try as I did by googling through states of hospitals..
.... well good luck...

Ya i know. Its kinda stupid that they say Science of Nursing but is not eligible for STEM extension.
And BSN used to be sufficient in earlier days but now to find a job is like a nightmare which enforces most people to go for MSN.
