No offence to anyone, don't get excited yet. I'm not trying to be an impious...nothing like you thought about this thread at your first glance....
But, I am going to spend most of my life in the US, I am the only one who is Hindu at my work. We usually have party at office where people bring varieties of beef items. It really looks awesome, sometimes I almost fail to restrain from the aroma.
I will be in the US till I get retired i.e for another 35 years at least. What should I do? Do I need to refrain myself from the aroma for another half of my life ? Do our religion let us eat foods that is widely availabe specially when one lives in such place?
no mockery please!

Radiohead if you want to eat then eat; its up to you, don't let your Karma Police tell you what to do :D. As more and more people are going away from red-meat, why should we, who were not exposed to beef, should consider now. Also, its not like we don't have any alternatives and most people here do understand as they are used to jews not eating so many things (similar story with Muslims).
edit: typos

No there is only one GOD...and Jesus is his son....the road to salvation is through christianity... Eat beef....Bible doesn't condemn it. if your religon says it's a sin to eat beef then go on and commit the sin....Jesus died for our sins...it's ok.

Cyberlegend,,,how do you know there is only one god? did anyone told you about it or you have just visited god's home to be so sure about it? what actually is the "Sin" that you are talking about? what is christianity? my religion has taught me only three things so far - not to harm anyone without their consent. and if you harm unknowingly, it will be forgiven. fight to survive when it comes to life and death. should I change the definition of my religion or I need to add couple more on the above three? anyway, should i eat beef in the situation currently I am?

radiohead, okay, i am assuming that you already tasted beef and you loved it and since you only mentioned about your religion and it's restriction on eating beef, i am going to assume that you don't care if you break that restriction otherwise you wouldn't have touched it to begin with. and now since you liked the taste and aroma, you might as well eat it without any guilt. and BTW, i am an atheist and i eat beef occasionally. i am more concerned with health when it comes to eating beef or any red meat.

Cyberland....now you are trying to sell a used condom to me that I am not seekig for.
I know your god forgive everything once you say sorry. He has also given you a right to commit sin numerous time and wash the stain just by apologising....I like it, not bad. But I can't embrace it at this point when i was born hindu.
Religion is not something that can be changed. here, I am not seeking alternate to my religion. But i am seeking if there is any clause withing my religion, hindu, that allows a person to eat cooked beef.

radiohead, you need to understand that restrictions on eating beef is not part of Hinduism, it's more of a cultural thing that evolved over time. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070728181353AAFV3yK

Hey stop making this a religious thing. If you like the taste, eat it. if you dont then dont eat. If there is "God" he/she wouldn't want you to eat ANY meat, not just beef or pork or something else. So stop making this a religious BS.

Jai _Nepal, I can understand your frustration but it has to be a religious answer to my question, no?
we don't eat beef just because our religion not allow, so we need to find out the answer from the religion itself.
are we allow to eat beef in some situation like mine?

LOL. This thread is hilarious. Firstly, let me address the question at hand: "Should I eat beef?" Since you've proven your indecisiveness and inability to make your own judgments, let me make this easier for you. In this day and age, most people eat whatever they want to eat. If you're a strict Hindu and abide by all the religious "guidance," then that's a different story. However, given that you've ended up here, I think it's safe to say that you don't fall into that 1% category. Hence, go ahead and indulge yourself. I'd say most people who don't eat beef in the US are those who haven't come across this question yet or those who don't find it appealing for some reason (smell, taste, etc.). Now to all you morons who are being mocked by CyberLegend: Are you guys for real? You have no idea what's going on, do you?
