Why do most of the Nepalese in US are so selfish?? Do selfish people comes to Us or they become selfish after coming here???

Not enought information to give any decent comments...so please explain in details.....I mean to say define SELFISH word you used here....

It happens when you expect too much from others.

I am in UK, and I have called my friends from school and college in US at least 500 times in the past one decade but so far I haven't had single call back from them. They used to call me at least once a week back home. Things are not the same here in the UK though. I think it is the US thingy. They do sometimes reply to the comments made on facebook though.

Sell Fish? No way!!! Night work at gas station is perfect, I can do my school work all night.

you, yourself, are very selfish;  you hide your proper grammar (syntax) at home because you think that others in sajha will learn how to construct good sentences from your posts.

hmm nepalese in US are selfish? just because one or couple of your friend who are in US are selfish doesn't mean all of em are selfish.. never generalize a population based on a couple sample... what will you tell about all the nepalese community who worked together to raise money for prasant tamang and other people who needs help... we often get thread regarding help some1 to send their body home or some1 is sick and i bet most of the doner are from US so again DONOT generalize based on few bad experiences you had...

I do not believe it. I have been assisted by generous nepali people, hitherto unknown to me - without any expectation in return, but good will. i am very much grateful to them.

It is always good to provide fishing rod rather than provide a fish. so please help struggling people to get education or a job. It will reward your life.

Nothing we do is selfless. Sometimes people tend to help others and even at that time we are looking for our own satisfaction that we get by helping others.

Nothing is selfless. Everywhere even in relationships it is Give and Take. It is human character, to your point about getting selfish after coming to US, I would like to say we may get more individualistic but selfishness is always there. It is a human character.

Namaskar Bro: Beg to differ. From your description, even God (if he/she existed) would be selfish.. Doesn't sound right... This too is a lot of generalization.

I don't know whether God exists or not, I haven't found a reasonable answer to prove that there is any.  Even if you believe there is God, which one should you believe?

In Christianity they believe in selfish God, ask any Christians.

In Hinduism, From Indra to Krishna, I don't see any one not being selfish. They were selfish so they always went after hard working so called Rakchhyas who were hard working people. Those hard working people lost with so called Gods and were regarded evils.

I am sorry I don't have much knowledge of other religions.

And bro, it is not just generalisation, it is a fact and I don't know of any exception to this fact. Good talking to you though.

i have same feeling too..........not all but i found 15-20% are selfish. I try to get into them but if they don't care ....why should I

well, i guess its cz ppl start seeing the true facts of life. i mean how ppl really are and how they treat u,and all the hard stuffs that u need to go through and most importantly you realise the value of $$MONEY$$.and all these things does make a person selfish whether he is nepali or from any other country.

First, not everybody here in the US are selfish.  Not even close.

Second, based on your interaction with few people who might have, in your opinion, acted selfishly, does not mean the who Nepali diaspora in the US is made of selfish people.

Third, you might perceive others to be selfish but in reality it might be because of the resource constraint - be it time or money or both. 

Just my two cents... uh... make that three.

2. Not everyone is Selfish, but yeah most people are. It is an individual trait, not territorial!

3. You are only to blame for your Grammar. Please improve. My humble request to you. At least for that structure, okay?

Do you guys often hear this from Nepalese, “म लाई त धेरै हरुको संगत गर्न मान लाग्दैन नेपाली को प्रोग्राम म जान मान लाग्दैन, त्यहाँ खाली कुरा काट्चन् , नेपाली हरु खुत्ता तानछन, मेरो काममा, Neighborhood मा नेपालीहरु नै छैन आनन्द छ"

I often hear this from women, especially from middle-aged women who were dumb azz 2-3 years ago when they first got here with DV. They didn't have job, didn't know how to drive, didn't know any english at all. They did ask/call every single Nepalese to get any kinda assistanc Now they have job (dhoti ko restaurant or grocery store, have 12 yrs old corolla can speak Hinglish. Now they don’t like Nepalese and trying to stay away from ‘em.

I think this thread starter Chetrini is the same kinda person; he/she thinks most of all Nepalese are selfish, something wrong with him/her.

khai kasai ko aas nagara and baru aaru haru lai help chaiyo bhane help gara and you will find the world is not selfish but if you dont do that than everyone in this world is selfish even your boy/girlfren.. mom/dad.. bro/sis..
So, do not expect much from people.. Expect less you will b less disappointed
