I am really glad some of the people who we have been electing in the past are out. It should be a good learning lesson for all the new comers, but how qualified are these new comers? I have been trying to find out the background of some/all the election winners, specially Maobadi's because I don't want some uneducated fool who was a good public speaker to make decisions. I want to start a petition to set a minimum educational qualification to run for government. Lets start with IA pass and maybe we can progress in the years to come. Hoina??

their activities show how educated they are
there was one lokendra ?? bista who was supposed to be one of the educated in maoists and rememner he was caught with pestol in singha durbar last year
they may open a praud sikshya (elderly education) interest group (forum) inside the singha durbar before they know why they were elected for.

To all the above commentators,
Your concern about the education level of Maoists shows what only the education ( I hope you all mean "degree") means. Because you might consider yourself educated but the way you have expressed is of very low grade. Is it to be a educated. Prove us which educated ministers and parliamenterians from NC and UML did any good job for Nepal in past? I know severals from maoist list who have master degree. Do you need their names? First of all tell us yourr degree so that we can challenge you. Come on for the discussion. If you are ready to discuss in this forum I suggest you all to be decent.

On Maoist’s literacy issue, only BabuRam and Hisila comes
front-runners. Others are way back in line. As a whole Maoists future strategy,
how they going to implement, execute, totally depends on Baburam(Tape-recorder).
I am saying him tape-recorder because way back in his I.Sc class in well known
Patan Campus, he was known as Tape-recorder. At that time, he was able to
repeat all lecturer’s note exactly after even long time.
Besides
him, all just know how to get everything in low price and easy way using force and threat.
They even don’t know what is the different between Capitalism and Communism.
And, they will only follow BabuRam. He will manipulate all those issue explain them the way he wants to get
political gain. His all-party workers don’t know what is GDP, Global market,
basic mechanism of industries (besides how to get pay raise).

LITTLE BIO ON PRACHANDA FROM WIKI...... Personal life and early career
Prachanda spent much of his childhood in the Chitwan District in Nepal. His family are reported to have been Brahmins
of modest means. He received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
(BSc-Ag) from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in
Rampur, Chitwan, and was reportedly once employed at a rural development project sponsored by USAID, the project site being Jajarkot.[1]

Educated people like Ram Sharan Mahat, and so on sure did not do good job for the country. But it is total stupidity to argue that NON EDUCATED MAOIST STUPID will pull out the stars from sky. That is simply not possible. This is 21st century, and ill n undereducated maoist still live in 17 century. Those who support Maoist, just want to say, respect the education you have and teach them some hing to your near and dear maoist.
BTW, to hold any govt. portfolio, we have to set min qualification. This should apply to all the parties not only to the maoist. And, sadly for the maoist, they do not have good educated scholarly people. HOW THEY WILL RUN THE COUNTRY-YET TO SEE!

I believe most of the CA members from Maoists party have low education, but there should be the majority with SLC or higher. I think 25% of them have bachelor's degree or higher and about 10% have Master's degree. What's the difference between 10th grade and 12th grade? Or what's the difference between Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Nepal? Java has pointed out that many of them do not know GDP, Capitalism, Communism etc. Probably you already influenced by the American politics where leaders have very good knowledge. In the context of Nepal, I don't think 95% of the people care about economics and it's terminologies other than the Business or Commerce students. Our education system is like that. Ask an engineer how much knowledge he has in economics.... just one course of 50 marks? that's it. It was not taught to me in the school and not in the university. So, if we are not biases, it's not the fault of people who have low education. It is the country how it is. What matters is: The leaders of the concerned area should know the subject matter; and the lawmakers of that particular subject should thoroughly understand the principle. Other should be informed by the experts. The ministers should be allocated as per their knowledge and related degree. In our Nepal, in the past there were all horrible mixture of people. Sutkeri bhatta khane educated Congressi fataha bhanda ta Maoists kai napadhe ka le pani ramro garna sakchhan jasto po lagchha. I hope maoists will nominate the ministers related with the expertise. The bitter fact is that, if we never give chance to the opressed people, how can they come forward and improve the whole society. Opressed will be always remain opressed like in Rana regime and Panchayat regime. Please remove your "high-class ruling" mentality in the changing phase of country. If everyone gets good education in Nepal, then this kind of thread will never appear. Java, you should not forget that the farmer knows his problem and solution. Does a doctor know what kind of tools and support a farmer needs? Education is not everything. At this time of constitution making assembly, all kind of people should be included no matter what their education is, or their profession is.

No biasing. Maoists are not substituting the educated people in the CA, but they have increased the inclusiveness. Isn't it better.

Proportionally representation and inclusiveness doesn't guarantee country's development. Without basic economic development, your argument doesn't logically justify.

I don't know about the others maobadis, but if you read Baburam's interview in the Nepali Times <http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=58457> <http://www.nepalitimes.com.np/election/news.php?id=32> he knows the problems that we face as a nation really well. Seems like urban planning was one of his areas of study, back when he used to be a student. Unfortunately, cant say the same about other Maobadi leaders Prachanda seems like the typical politician who cant wait to become the next P.M. or President; he is more about propaganda than substance. I read some-time back an article called 'rado communist' ( times of India or some other Indian Paper) which mocked Prachanda for the Rs.200,000 watch that he wears to keep track of time. . May sound trivial, but gives a glimpse of his personality. After-all, frugality is the mantra of communist philosophy..haina ra? Still, with the benchmark for governance that 'educated' kangresi and yemale leaders have set, even an illiterate maoist cadre would do better.

Some people here believe that "representation" based on ethnic line is important. Wake up, this is 21st century. I want a leader who is capable of doing something good. I want the best. But in the name of representation of ethnic background, I don't think s/he represent me thus s/he can not deliver, and s/he is more to represent his/her ethnic background, which is so localized, and s/he might want to provoke people of his background in his constituency so that those who voted people of other ethnic background are ejected out of the constituency. Eventually we are heading towards segregation. In US, the method of segregation failed, and we failed to realize it.
Even if the number of Kangressies is too low in this parliament, when it comes debate, Maoists will threat, and intimidation using these large number SURTI THAPADI MARNE type of Parliamentarians. Some one out of Maoist leadership will tell them that Thapadi Mara, and all these 250+ will clap ..... We call it representation. It will be the most unfortunate set of parliamentarian in the history of nepal, after 2032's Gau Farke nominations of parlimentarians.
GP
What is Surti Thapadi? The debate is so boring that you don't understand, you feel sleepy. Unknowingly you sleep because it is a hall full of 600 people, and too hot, too boring discussions that goes above your head. Then a fellow parliamentarian who also feels boring want something to keep him woke up, and he needs caffine or nicotine whatever is available. So, he decides to have surti. So, he gets surti out of pocket, and prepares it. During the preparation, he has to clap surti .... in traditional way, then the parliamentarian who is sleeping suddenly wakes up and feels that he is missing something. Then follows the clap, ..... so other gawars who also did not understand ... follows him... clap clap.... patatataa.....

Common Guys, We have Girija who is 10 class fail and he has been ruling us for the past two decades, so its double standard to talk about the education level of the elected Maoists. However say that there is no doubt that it will be good to have a minimum qualification provision for our future parliamentarians, so that they won't be aunguta-chap. But, there is a caveat: In most likelihood we will be having 85% of our men/women having their degrees from these institutions - University of Bihar, University of Motihari, Instiution of Agricultural Economics - Begusarai, College of Nagpur, Rabri Devi College of Family Planning, etc., etc.
