Absolutely not, unless you make one of Maobadi your partner, but then you will under his/her thumb all the time. ... by the time this election results is over, Nepal will probably see most of the Financial Institutions 'BROKE.' Expect most of these below... 1. Capital-Flight from Nepal 2. Currency devaluation 3. Expect major Inflation 4. What else...economy shrinkage. 5. Mass people move to country-side for re-education? 6. All of the Original Maoist's disaster plannings? Number 1-3 is guaranteed to happen, nothing can change people from moving their $$ to safer place 1., which will push for number 2 and 3 (due to state printing money; example Zimbabwe). 4- rest depends of Maoist agenda, and where it wants to take Nepali people to. Comrade, Prachanda, good luck running a broke country with no source of income; and you will really need luck in managing your own PLA's (they will expect some crap and full-fill all your fake promises), you will do this by printing more money resulting in Inflation.. quite-simple. As for all Nepali diaspora's do not send you $$ to Nepal 'now', wait and see. I hope this is not another PolPot era here. All the best to Nepali people going backward.

It's not how safe is it to invest in Nepal, it's what type of investor you are? So, before you identify which type of investor you are this question is irrelevant. Are you a risk-taker, or you just want to stay on a safe side? I think it's about time you studied a thing or two about investing, identify which type you fall in and then ask the question.

this is not about the risk factor. It is just a general question which can pop up in any one's mind. The main point is ... will the financial environment of Nepal remain pleasant under the communist government?
There are many private businesses in nepal.... hotels, travell and tourism, exporting, entertainment, educational constitutions and many more. Are these businesses going to be under the communist gvt? There is at least something to think about.

There is losir moneyung risk factor in business....but under communism, investing means 100% losing ur money. I would invest in some other country than in nepal.

Did you guys notice the downfall of stock market in nepal....... This happenned just after Maoists winning the majority in the election.
I was worried about this particular thing.
I personally am not against Maoists but threat is still there in the people's mind, heart.
A country with poor economical condition often gets hit by political problem.
Now where is the confidense gone from all the business personnel in Nepal????
After a week off in stock market, every body wants to pull the money back from the market.
Nobody wants to invest... This will definately take our Nepal to the position of Zimbabway.
An appeal to the rulling party... please think on thismatter, let the people work for Nepal,,, Let them improve the economical condition of the country.
We dont want Nepal to be Somalia.

>>Mr snakebite, you may be right in some aspect... but do you really think u can do good business in nepal at this time?
Mr/Mrs/Miss dobato, yes I really think it is possible to do good business in Nepal at this time and situation... people did business during the WWII and thrived... I believe you have watched the movie "Schindler's List"... it may or may not be true but it gives you an idea like the situation might be fked up for many, but there are some businessman who could take an advantage of the situation and make fortune... Some made fortune during American great depression ... it just depends on what, when, where, how you spend.
But let me tell you one thing about investing in country that is going through dire situation... you must sell your soul to the devil before you could invest in those countries. After all, investors care about profit. Are you up to sell you soul and invest in one of the poorest countries in the world and expect profit? Now you might say if you don't invest in Nepal, how is it going to get developed... well that's where things might get complicated and thats where I want to end the conversation because I don't wanna spend my whole life arguing about stuffs that make sense to me... that too, over the Internet.

how correct was I... - Nepal is witnessing major Capital-Flight, losing around 200+ crore a day - NEPSE - Stocke Exchange index's down almost 27% (loss of Rs 900 crore "US$ 140 Million", that is equal to total Garments + Carpet exports annually; or total of One months of Overseas remittance to Nepal) with-in 1st hour of opening market after election, exchange was shut-down in response and still is closed. - Inflation is already such an issue in KTM. - Next, in line are Currency devaluation.. and ruin of Nepal or becoming Somalia. However currently reading the way Maoists are talking, they've become bit soft and I hope they remain so in policy road map and implementation too. My biggest worry is that Internal Fight among themselves "Hardliners and YCL, PLA stuff" might spill-it out, resulting in Somalia style governance.

how can someone say that nepal will turn into somalia after the maoist will take over...can someone show me a single country run by people will comunist policy and is like somalia...there are many country run by congress and is like somalia....economy is going down coz all the concentrations are going to elections...lets wait for the agenda......lets all the policies to be implented...as for maoist planning....growing business are always supported by communist...the only thing u should be scared is if u r a son of someone who owns a lot of property and u r trying to use that property than wait and see how much tax u r going to pay for that business..nepal is going to be a good place to live...and watch the number of people going out of country...its going to be slow down....and we can proudly says that i m made for nepal.....

I heard some promissing statements from the winning party in nepal. only option left to the people in nepal is wait and see. It is true that under communism, economy of the country doesnt go that bad..... but there is no chance of prosperity too. communism gives more priority to miletary action than in global trade and other economical growth. there will be very low export business and same will be the import. we have one of the worst technology in the world so what is the result???? back to halo and kodalo...no tractor , no modern mechanism,,, same old traditional agricultural system. whole product of the country cant feed 2.5 crore nepali people any more.
so we have to depend on other country. once india stops supporting the economy of nepal, value of our currency would go even worst and worst. all the foreign exchange in nepal is controlled by indian currency.
Nepali Rupees 100 = Indian Rupees160 this is same for years and years,,,why?
Is the economical condition of Nepal and india is same no way.
