Bradman himself refered to Tendulkar as reminding him of his younger days and being the best he's ever seen...I remember my early school days when Tendulkar played his first international match and for the next few weeks, he was always the topic of discussion for the games teachers (as SPS back then was only known for 2 things: cricket and athletics...we sucked at football and every other physical sports). Even though he has had a lil slump for the past 2-3 years, I still feel that he is the greatest ever and he still has the ability to pay for a couple more years...Who knows...Maybe into 2011 for the next World cup (??). hahaha

Where were you guys all these years. May be you have seen tendulkar play well after a long time so you could not hide your joy. You coming and posting here itself shows how bad he has been over the years. For ricky ponting and matthew hayden supporter it is almost daily affair to see them score big over the years. Tendulkar has made this much run after a long time. If he was playing for Australia he would have been dropped a long time back because of his poor run of form. Secondly we cannot compare tendulkar and lara now. Lara has already retired. He retired his test cricket in a high with double hundred and a hundred in his last series. He also scored 26 runs in just one over in his last test series. And of course if you go by the history of Adelaide Oval it is probably the flattest surface along with Antigua where even score of 550 doesn't guarantee you success.

It wont be a big shock if Tendulkar plays WC 2011 or even longer. And why not, he is only senior player remaining in the squad to play against Australia. Selectors have put their axe on Dravid and Ganguly. Laxman is ou of ODI from last 2 years and Kumble has already his retirement. So, the only senior player left would be Tendulkar.
He had a fine knock all throughout the series but hadnt reached 100 for quite a while. He was out in 90s, five times last year, so I don even agree that he wasnt playing well last year.
GO ON TENDULKAR. SCORE CENTURY OF CENTURIES before you leave the game.

BELOW SPEAKS FOR ITSELF FOR PEOPLE WHO OPPOSE JUST TO OPPOSE
Test Cricket
Some remarkable achievements of his career in test cricket are:
Highest number of Test centuries (39), beating Sunil Gavaskar's record (34) on 10 December 2005 vs Sri Lanka in Delhi. The 31-year-old Tendulkar also became only the third player in history, after Gary Kirsten and Steve Waugh, to score centuries against all test-playing nations. In 1989/90 at the age of just 16 years and 205 days, he became the youngest player to play at the test level for India against Pakistan at Karachi. He scored his first test century at the age of 17 years and 112 days. At the age of 19 he became the youngest player to score 1000 test runs, during India's tour of South Africa (1992/93). Played in the highest number of Cricket Grounds - he has played Test Cricket on 52 different grounds, ahead of Azharuddin (48), Kapil Dev (47), Inzamam-ul-Haq (46) and Wasim Akram (45). Among those who have played over 100 Test matches, he is the only one with a batting average above 55. sachin sees him become the youngest player ever to play in his 100th Test Match for any country. He is the fastest to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket history. He holds this record along with Brian Lara. Both of them achieved this feat in 195 innings. Only second Indian to cross 10,000 runs in Test matches. Second fastest player to reach 9000 runs (Brian Lara made 9000 in 177 innings, Sachin in 179.) While his batting ranks him among the best in the world, he is also a part-time bowler and has played a crucial role as a leg spinner or a medium pace bowler who tends to break partnerships. Batting average of over 50 against the best cricketing opposition in the world - Australia.
Test Australia - 8 Centuries [5 in Australia], 2 of them at the age of 18 in 1992 Bangladesh- 1 Century [Unfortunately his highest score in Test Cricket] England- 6 Centuries [4 in England], NewZealand- 3 Centuries [1 in NewZealand] Pakistan- 2 Centuries [1 in Pakistan] SouthAfrica- 3 Centuries [all three in South Africa] Srilanka- 7 Centuries [4 in Srilanka] WestIndies- 3 Centuries [ 1 in WestIndies] Zimbabwe- 3 Centuries [ none in Zimbabwe]

no quiero...where da fug does your rhetoric even stem outta?? Tendulkar is the greatest batsman there ever was and for you to even compare Ponting and whatzisname to him is like you talking about the characters on Sesame Street when I ask you about Nobel prize winners. You're a damn joke and so is your post. Its just has no credibility on this thread...Its time you became non-existant like the tooth fairy! hahhahaha

Tendulkar is known for the pleasing SHOTS form his bat, superb drives, loving lofts, paddling sweeps and artistic cuts.these beauties of cricket batting can never be found in Ponting's and Hayden's ways of playing cricket............the rest you are familier with

I am not a great fan of India or Tendulkar, but I’ll admit that he is the greatest batsmen our generation has ever seen and for that I respect him. No queiro, you can laugh as much as you can but his record speaks for itself.

.This is a heartache for non-Tendulkar fans and I enjoy seeing them (non-Tendulkar fans) greeting their teeth over lil' Master's success. Was/is there any doubt that tendulkar has been one of the finest findings in cricket history? He rose and still shines! :-)

Comparisons to Lara ? Okay I give you that much, go ahead and compare. But to Ponting and Hayden of all ? Next thing you're gonna start comparing him to these so called Afridis and Haqs and god knows who. His record speaks for himself, and even after people writing him off, he's shown time and again that he is not done yet. I enjoyed last night's century and all 38 before that one. Not to forget his 41 ODI tons. No one even cares if he reaches 50 now a days. such is the greatness !

Statistics are like girls underwear. They reveal what is beautiful but hide what is important.
Underneath the statistics of sachin tendulkar lies mostly innings of non substance. An average bloated by not outs and many innings lacking in substance. I am still to see an innings like 153* by Brian Lara in Bridgetown to win test match by 1 wicket or 281 by VVS laxman to win against australia after following on. I wont blame tendulkar fans to get overboard with this momentary run of form. Because this has come after ages. Otherwise there would have been on need of this thread in sajha.com. Ricky ponting have dominated the cricketing world for last 5 years and he still rules despite his momentary faliure in this series. Where were you guys all these years where tendulkar played no where as he is playing in this series in last don't know how many years. He wasn't even in top 20 best batsman in the ratings. He still isnt in the list of top 10.
To say him best batsman simply because he have played 100's of matches is a joke. Dont even want to put him in a same league as Sobers, Richards, George Headley, Everton Weeks, Walcott or Greame Pollock . As lara once said after breaking Allan Borders record of maximum test runs that he doesnot value such record because any good batsman would overhaul these record and make 11-12000 runs if they play same number of matches and won't value it as important as his 400 runs of 500 runs.
Anyway you can enjoy yoru momentary sucess because even a lamp about to extinsguish gives a lot of light. Unless he plays consistantly well for coming 6-7 test series I wont buy anybody's worD.
Aussie rule, ponting rule, hayden rule. India loses sachin makes runs indian people become happy.

Tendulkar played well after ages ....yes ....agter ages that why this post is here.
I agree with the guy who says statistics are underwear. If you are talking about stat, look at Hussey's. tendulakar avarage- 50s, husseys -80s. Does it prove Hussey is father of cricket or Tendy is a kid in front of Mr. Cricket? That doesnt prove anything.
Tendulkar is there for ages. And he is In IIIIndian team not Australian. If he was in Australia he would not be even chosen to play test at his age in the first place.
I know he is a good player. But no one cna claim that he is the best. No one is best. Ricky, Hyden, Inzi, Gilly, Warne, Muralitharan, Lara and all others are great players but they can play crapy at times. Tendy is no different. He never quits even though he scores 50 run in 10 innings. He is still there because someday he made a century. His position is garaunteed. It doesn't happen in Aus team.
Brian Lara once made 40O ....nobody have dont that afterwards....does that make him the greatest. His 400 didnt do no good if you remember.
Tendy is there for ages and the number of centuries he made looks good but any quality batsman who will be there is and will be capable to make more centuries than he did. Ricky has 30 some, Hyden is moving on. But as I said they don;t get oppertunities like Tendy gets to play for ages.
Whatsoever, Tendy is a good player.

No_quiero, It looks like you are a Aussie Junkie, thus you say this : " Ricky
ponting have dominated the cricketing world for last 5 years and he
still rules despite his momentary faliure in this series." lmfao ... dude !! key points to note is that 5 yrs thing. Sachins been doing this for god knows how long. You write in your big red font that stats are nothing yet you keep going on and on about 153 and 281 and not outs and ratings and all that bullshit. chill the fawk out. you don't like him, we get the point. stay away from this thread then. no need to keep posting here, we clearly know you don't belong here. let us talk about him, and by us I mean those who think he is much better than your punk ass Aussies. Truce !!

No quiero is right.
All these indian fans are like the frogs after rain.
Tendulakar tendulkar....Tendulkar.....
Quaqmire, I think you are mistaken here. I think you are on the road of Bandwaging and worshiping tendulakar like all the crapy indian do comparing him to god.
No quero may not have liked AUS because they are always winning. They have quality. Indians are crying kids. If they lose they threaten to quit and they claim aus didnt play with spirit if india loses or umpire did something. Someday they will say oh umpire put some jelly beans or stones in the pitch....not even stone ...a big rock.
Everybody likes seeing quality players win.
Anyway you tell me when has Indian played well despite Tendy centuries? 80s world cup? Tnedy was not even there.
Tendy got more oppertunities thats why he has record.....and he never quits coz he is greedy and never give young players a chance.
I dont mean he isnt good but comon if he is there for these many yrs these record are nothing, Anyone can surpass him.
Aus team and players are successful. Indians are not. A century in a match and you go Tendulkar Tendulkar...
Aus never does this.
Each and every batsman in the aus are scoing centuries all the time.
So dont bandwagon.....get a sense.

.Someone comes and does blah blah against lil' Master's records but forgets if his/her blah blah is even worthy to be talked about? Pheww...! Playing 100's of matches and still be able to make run is not a joke, excuse me! Not considering him as a finest player is people's option, not his fate! Rise and Shine - my lil' Mater! :-)
