Maoists quit govt Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Sept 18 - All efforts to stop the Maoists from quitting the government have failed. A crucial meeting of the top leaders of the four major political parties held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Tuesday ended as the parties could not agree on the Maoist demands. The Maoist ministers also left the vehicles provided to them by the government at the PM’s residence and headed towards the open air theatre to address the protest assembly called by the party. The Maoist leaders are due to formally announce their decision to launch an agitation at the assembly, which is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm. The meeting of the four parties was convened this morning as part of the last ditch effort to stop the Maoists from quitting the government. Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, Maoist chairman Prachanda and NC-Democratic President Sher Bahadur Deuba had attending the meeting. General Secretary of CPN Unity-Center Mashal, Prakash, who has been taking the initiative to defuse the political deadlock over the last two days, was also present there. PM Koirala had held a one-on-one with Maoist Chairman Prachanda ahead of the four-party meeting. However, the eight parties have not given up their hope to end the prevailing political stand-off even as the Maoist ultimatum to quit the government expired Monday evening. Though Prime Minister Koirala has declined Maoist leadership demand for declare the country a republic through the Interim Legislature-Parliament and formally endorse the declaration through the Constituent Assembly to be elected on November 22, both the sides are still in a mood to look for alternatives to defuse the deadlock. Hundreds of Maoist cadres and sympathizers gathered at major intersections before the midday have started to proceed towards the assembly venue. Many buses carrying the demonstrators were also seen heading towards the open air theatre. They are chanting slogans such as “Declare a republic to ensure Constituent Assembly elections†and “Hail to republican Nepalâ€. Traffic in large parts of the capital has been crippled.

My immidiate wishes till there are no solutions: 1. I wish maoists combatants remain in cantonments. 2. I wish no physical conflicts between ground level leaders of all parties. 3. I wish the security tightened to avoid infiltration from south blocks.

Bijukchhe claims India is searching for 'Lhendup Dorje' in Nepal A senior communist leader has accused India of attempting to do a 'Sikkim' on Nepal. Talking to Nepal FM on Tuesday morning, Bijukchhe also reiterated his oft-repeated claim that the 12-point deal was New Delhi's baby. Narayan Man Bijukchhe (File Photo) "India is searching for Lhendup Dorje here. They don't care if that Dorje is wearing red or white or black cloth. They are looking for appropriate character," claimed Narayan Man Bijukchhe, president of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP). The NWPP is a constituent of the eight-party alliance but it is not in the government. In 1975, the tiny Himalayan nation of Sikkim was merged into India and Dorje, who was the leader of Sikkim National Congress, had acted to facilitate the merger. On the issue of Maoist threat to quit the government and launch the agitation, Bijukchhe said that there is no point in compelling them to remain in the government if they don't want to. "Let them walk out of the government. Let them launch agitation. It would be good if they raise people's issues in the agitation. Otherwise, at present, there is not even an opposition to this government," Bijukchhe. He went on to ask the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), too, to quit the government. "They have a good excuse. They can say that they quit the government since the Terai problem could not be resolved." "It is meaningless to stick to the government, claim to be communists and then do nothing to resolve country's problems," Bijukchhe said. nepalnews.com sd Sep 18 07

dont blame Prachanda ... he was on the gorvernment to make Nepal a republic country . if all are committed to the republic .. then why not to declare republic .. Parliament decalred Nepal as a secular country ... is not that a huge decision ? they changed the national anthem .. without asking neplease people .. why can't the make the nepal republic ... CA election is not like regular election .. the two key point are the basis of new Nepal .. Maoiist is asking for these points .. coz .. they need assurance .. they left the jungle .. for this and if other parties want to play with this .. they wont let it happen .. Use ur brain bro .. dont always listen to a single comment ..

This is answer Aulo jasto.... What the F*** are you talking about? "If all are committed to republic .. then why not declare republic" Well, it so happens is people want to follow democratic norms. It is not the politician who makes decision. Where is the people's mandates? The decision is up to the janata. Your leader prachanda is nothing but a thug, who seized the power from the people. He just wants to hijack the nepal so rest of us agrees to any kind of psycho ideas he comes across. Enough is enough. It is about time some one stood up and say that to him and other psycho who follows him....

Aalu jasto has got some point. I think the old leaders ..esp Girija and his gang are scared of bringing 'republican' and proportional representation in the country. They know their existence would be in danger once they bring in republican and the proportional representation.( main agenda for 'New Nepal') He would rather stick to some form of 'Ceremonial king' and some form of indian inteference. That is best seved by Girija's team

It was all Baburam's idea to thwart CA. Baburam Bhattrai is more extremist than Prachanda. Prachanda was just a pawn.He is in clear minority now. Do you know why Prachanda did not Join today's rally ? It was because Baburam pressurise Prachanda not to be flexible and make some kinds of deal with Girija.

oh dear lord how blind these people are in this room............my good am I the only one who thinks that all these leaders and the maoists are a bunch of power hungry indian pawns??????......Republic ????what are you guys thinking about????? Republic declared by a communist maoist leader is good for the country?????.......I mean hasnt history taught you guys anything????......and take a good look at N korea.......you want to give power to a murderer????....Prachanda would have my full support respect and vote if only he had not spilled blood of thousands of innocent Nepalese. He chose voilence instead of peacefully appealing...........he chose guns to bring his point across instead of speech??????......He rode on fear, intimidation and curroption to come to power......and when he declares republic and has all the power he needs to controll the armed forces than you all would regret ever wanting a communist republic........wouldnt it suck to be told how ti live your life all the time???????..........A democratic republic is another thing but a communist lead republic??????? what are you all thinking of.........?? When the King stepped down ...which he could have choosen not to because he had the Army and the armed forces behind him..........why did he give up so easily to the unarmed roudy Nepali protesters led by these same curropt leaders and the maoists...???......you know why because the king said that no more innocent blood shed......no more Nepalese to die...........What do you think Prachanda will do if he had the armed forces under commie republic and the people complained and rallied against his party????...you know verywell what Prachanda and his party is capable of doing...................HECK IF I WERE THE KING I WOULD HAVE ROUNDED UP ALL THESE LEADERS AND KILLED THEM....DECLARE MARSHALL LAW AND CURFUE....WHO EVER DEFIED IT TO BE SHOT AND KILLED AND WHEN THE SITUATION WAS GOOD AND CALMER .........hand the power back to the Nepalese people and jsut be a symbol of UNITY, PEACE, AND TRADITION.........and along with the people of Nepal KIck Indias Butt.......open business links with China, pakistan bangladesh...boycott Indian products and then welcome all the international countries who wants to build hydro palnt projects in Nepal without indian interferrance......JAI NEPAL

It is a terrible situation in Nepal at the moment. Let's not get swayed by our radical beliefs or extreme views. Let's analyse the situation as a third person. 1. Mao's killed thousands, so they started the killing spree (of their own brothers) and pathetically, to get to the same place where all the other political parties go to without terrorism. One may say state killed too. But let me ask you, if are invoked, you would react right. It is the state mechanish and will do the same no matter who instigates violance. May be some of their views are great but the politics of fear/extortion/abduction, I do not think, goes hand in had to accomplish "democracy". Democracy is the ability where people can express their views without fear and election is held to get to the majority and formulate laws and policies with the results. Look at Mao's, they torture any one that comes against them which makes them coward because they fight with weapons with old and helpless. They bomb, kindergarden! Secondly, they have no guts to take people's referendum on critical issues. They just want handful to decide. Yes, they did decide on "secularism" just like that....but guess what that is not the democratic way of ruling. If the whole country chooses to be African Tribe to jump around the fire, I am okay with it. But to decide and shove it like that is not fair to begin with so please do not praise what changes they brought without referendum. Let's not forget that a country comprises of all kinds of people with wide range of beliefs and supports. Some are violent while some choose not to speak up and fight. Hence, it becomes state's duty to reach those through election and have a true representation of the people while deciding. If you just listen to the loude voices and criminals, just take a sample in the jail cell. Next, Maos know they will lose the election because no one in the right state of mind will support hooligans and terrorists as stated by many governments which comprise of more intellectual brains than you and I. They had enough time to bring about change in the way they think/act and react. They just kept on thinking they are the supreme lords. We are shooting for democracy and I donot think we want another self proclaimed God to rule us by force. 2. Others have their flaws as well. But I apploud any and all in authority who dares to raise voice against rampant hooliganism while he/she can be the target oif the thugs. I hated all the politicians and Rajas in the past but I truely admire Girija for all he has done to show Nepali people what Mao's are truely made up of. If we start to talk about the hearsay, sho tried to sell what to whom, we can fabricate all the stories and incidents. It is true that Giriija is acting as per India but all our political figures look up to India or take a next flight to delhi to make any decison anyway. It is not right, I agree but Girija is not the only one to blame to be dependent. Why did mao's have to draw 12 pts agreement in the presence of India (In India) if they hated to be their dogs so much, Besides, they were all living in India while killing all the innocents in Nepal!!!! Let's not be hippocrats. 3. Let's support those who do not put a gun on our head to make us react their way. Let's shoot for true democracy that prevails with peace and harmony. Let our kids be able to go to kindergarden without a fera of Mao' rolling a greenade into their classroom because by mistake they were singing nursury rhymes when Mao's had closed the city , woops! Most of them are corrupt, let's support them who preach peace and rule without guns. I hope mao change their styles and renounce terrorism, stop torture and we can start supporting them as well.

Looks like everyone's trying to be a political analyst without a shade of credibility in their reasonings. And this fuggin Aalu jasto, I'll fry you in oil and eat you like french fries. Why, you ask? Because your ignorant rhetoric made me scoff so hard I friggin turned blue!! hahahaaa Hahaha This ignoramus Aalu-bhalu says that Prachanday did the right thing? Are you shittin me!! The goddamn fugger knew that there was no way he could've ever won the elections as his earlier supporter base in the Terai / Western region of Nepal have already switched sides to support the Madhise movement instead. If the Terai movement had started only a year earlier to the Maoists being initiated into the government, these fuggin Maobaids would've still been hiding in the jungles as they would've known that there was no way they could've even thought about getting into the government and contesting the elections. BTW, We all know why these mothafuggers want a Republic: They muscled their way into the government and they plan to do the same with the elections once the King has been totally powerless using the farce called a Republic!! Analyzing what I've seen so far, the King was the only one capable of opposing these shit-heads...And as far as in terms of recent developments, Gyane has lost most of his authoritative powers, including physical property and Royal heirlooms to the state. The entire monarchy has become somewhat of a ceremonial title now. Why keep going after someone whoz already down and low and is not an immediate threat when there are more issues of concern: The drought that still has millions starving in Western nepal, the flood and hunderd thousands displaced, the Bhutanese Refugee issue, the overcrowding leading to lower living standards in the nation's capital, the corruption issue at the ministerial level / government adminstration offices and even the smallest things like the garbage disposal issue in Ktm that has contaminated entire blocks...Damn, the apalling stench has rendered even the strongest cologne useless!! The Maoists are just looking for variable excuses to postpone the elections so that in the meantime, they may start portraying a better image of themselves through propaganda (and indiscriminate use of the gun like they always have). They are and always will remain damn rebels and whats more, they're damn commies...The commie system worked nowhere else in the world successfully and they wanna experiment in Nepal. Hell, my Nepal ain't their fuggin test-tube baby! Goddamnit, to support these fuggers is to support losing Nepal completely to the dogs.
