Can somebody tell me the easy process to apply for Canadian PR? Is there any way of applying directly to Canadian Government without going through consultancy? So that consultancy fees can be avoided?

Nirvana, In your case they might have lost your application file. it used to take 8 months before sept 11,2001 but now it takes Max of 15 months, If i was you I will call the buffalo and ask them the status of your file. Rajan, About application Like Nirvana said go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/ and go to migrating to canada as skilled worker, there is a form and fill that out. If you are married include all your family memembers that will move with you to canada along with their pic. It costs 325 as an application fee per person. try to sent all the documents at once so it will not delay the process. They also required a certified check as method of payment, otherwise they will sent your application back to you. Please don not spent a penny for lawyers or Dalal if you are in Nepal. The process is straight forward Good Luck

Kuno, Did u calculate the the numbers and where u stand in getting PR. Medical report doenot have anything to do with it. But ig you have a degree in certain major which have chances to get a job in Canada then they will not call you for an interview but if they have some doubt that you might have a hard time to get a job then they will call you for an interview Answer to your other question about how long to get a PR.....it looks like you got long ways to go (looking at Nirvana's case) nirvana, No I didn't go through all those. but I did get my PR in 8 months and it was before sept 11-2001. Nirvana do you know AX dude on sajha.

Himalaya, With my calculation i had 70+ and i got the following responses from them, " We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview." and "please proceed with your medical examination within the next 60 days."

Depending on your major .. Like I said if they think you can find a job easily with your degree they will not call you or san interview and If they have a doubt thats when they will call you for an interview. interview is the last step before getting a PR card mailed to you and you will have 6 months to enter into canada. (tes pachi kumlo bokera himal tira lagne sathi). In my case Iam a chemistry major and a friend of mine is an environmental Science major they called him (with environmental Science) for an interview and they sent me my PR in the mail (without an interview). Hope that will clearly answer your question

What my understanding is, you have to enter Canada before your medical result expires. Your medical result expires in one year. Here is what I did: Sent Application Buffalo Office - Sept 2005 Returned everything because I left blank in some parts of application. (write N/A always) Resent application - Nov 2005 They transferred my file to NY office (my closest location) in Nov 2006. It takes exactly 1 year New York Office waived my interview. They ask for an interview if they suspect something or cann't easily find job in the field. Asked for my medical , FBI finger printing, landing fee (US $ 445 ) Sent them everything, but my money order was returned saying " amount was incorrect" because they reduced the price to 415 per person. Now I sent them my passport for immigrant visa stamp and right amount of landing fee. Waiting for the passport. I thought they mail us PR card only after you enter Canada. not sure. You can do everything by yourself, DONOT SPEND A PENNY ON CONSULTENT AS THEY SUGGEST. Your overall expense will be the total of application fee (450+) + medical fee (300-350 per person) + landing fee (415) plus other small expenses.. They ask too many photos.. FBI finderprint also cost some money. If you passed that evaluation (67+) then apply it ASAP.

sukul gunda and himalaya i have a question for you if you dont mind and if you ever had to go to jamal (TU) for transcripts regarding the original educational certificates to be sent directly by the university, what sort of things should we ask at jamal office, is there a system that they make another copy of original transcript (or is it just the attested photocopy) do we also need to send originals of SLC and +2 from sanothimi bhaktapur anybody's help and suggestion is highly appreciated. thanks

Chyame Kancha, I don't think you need to deal with Jamal at all. I don't remember sending them ISc or SLC certificates. If you really want to send them, just send open copies of what you already have. In addition, send them "sealed" official transcripts of the US colleges you attended (BS/MS). They care aboout the later ones, not previous degrees or certificates. I assummed you attended colleges in the US. Documents you need from Nepal are - birth certificate (even this I got from Nepal Consulate office in NY), police report.
