No he is related to the legendary Dixit family in Nepal. I think his dad served the Rana rulers and currently the founder of Madan Puraskar and Madan Pustakalaya.

Conversation ? Hmmm. . . but wouldn't it be great if Kunda gives a stand-up instead ? A stand-up is the ultimate test for a humorist after all. This is not to say I am interested in testing Kunda. Actually I am interested in tasting rather than testing him.

Kunda's Nepali Times column 'Under My Hat' is a hillarious read - enjoy reading it. Kunda is our version of Spike Miligan.. I know, the good old PG Woodhouse would have peed in his pants laughing! I would attend his talk if I were in NY. Good luck all. And give my salaams to him. Cheereo..

Anil Jee, Could you please summarize Kunda Dixit's talks (as it is--- without any twists please!) and post in this thread so that we people, who can not attend the discussion, can be benefited? He might have some more insights that could not be fitted in his magazine published from Nepal. I have some questions to ask. Could you please convey following curiosities to him: 1. Who is blocking a large scale people's movement to establish Democratic Republic of Nepal at this time? 1.1 Why are not the general people taking to the streets in such a fertile time ? 1.2 What is the probability that the people will fade up with KG soon and, will start to stage in the protests? 1.3 What kinds of people (socioeconomic characteristics) are supporting KG outside of his own boundary? 2. What are the pros and cons of so-called dialogue between parliamentary parties and Maoists? 2.1 What are the points of improvements on both sides to make the dialogue successful? 2.2 Is not this a power bargain of Parliamentary parties with monarchy? 2.3 Do not the Parliamentary parties run to take oath in Narayanhiti when KG handpicks them? 2.4 Do the Maoists stop killing innocent people and political cadres as they promised from now? 2.5 Is there any chance that the Maoists will change their political ideology from one party communism to democratic republic from the plenum meeting and put in their political documents? 2.6 How long will it take to wipe out monarchy even the talks between politician parties and Maoists become successful? 2.7 What are the pocibilities that other arm struggles be started even if Moists are brought to mainstream politics? 2.8 Do the parties completely be changed and won't repeat the same mistakes during their era if they re-gained power? 3. Which sector of social development is mostly affected by the royal move except communication and education sector? 3.1 Why do the TU professors support KG? 3.2 What is the impact in short-term and long-term national economy? 3.3. What is the impact in tourism? 3.4 How long will KG survive without foreign aids? 3.5 Are there any sectors which gained positive impact? 4. What kind of man is KG? 4.1 What are his possible thoughts during difficult times in future? 4.2 Who are the unseen advisors to him except his own BHARDARS? 4.3 What will he do if he is defeated? 4.4 What is the possibility that he will loot our country, if sure to be defeated? 4.5 How many Nepalese deaths can he digest easily to be in power? Thank you very much and best wishes for the success of the program. --- OK

OK-ji, I dont' think we'd be able to entertain ALL of your questions even if you were personally present at the event -- arulai ni sodne mouka dina paryo. How about you pick ONE from the above four? And if we have time, I will bring up the rest too. As for the summary, sure I will do that. We (The Alliance) have also released the summary of a similar program held last weekend with Shambhu Thapa, Sushil Pyakurel and Gopal Siwakoti. I will paste that in the appropriate thread. You will also be able to hear the presentations, perhaps by the end of this weekend. We are currently in the process of digitalizing the audio.

Anil Jee, If so, the second point is better for current political imbroglio. Thank you for your summary of the past discussions. I am eagerly waiting for the audio files. ---- OK

Nepe writes: "Actually I am interested in tasting rather than testing [Kunda Dixit]." We all know that Nepe is a man of multiple hobbies. I did not know that tasting journalists (God knows, what he tastes in them!) also appears to be one of his hobbies. I guess Nepe loves mankind . . . literally. oohi ashu

Thank God, Ashu did not ask me why am I asking for a stand up when Kunda will most likely be standing up anyway at the podium to deliver the speech ! Re tasting, actually it was Ashu's monarchy-friendly stand up at Patan Dhoka that had left me unquenched and hence this enthusiasm for Kunda's humor.

As usual, Nepe is WRONG. On both counts: He writes: "when Kunda will most likely be standing up anyway at the podium to deliver the speech !" Check the photo below (source: PKB's blog: Kunda is sitting down.) Kunda is actually sitting down "while delivering the speech" [In other photos, he is standing to converse with others.] ***** Nepe writes: "it was Ashu's monarchy-friendly stand up at Patan Dhoka that had left me unquenched and hence this enthusiasm for Kunda's humor." Again, Nepe, with ZERO evidence, tries to paint me in a wrong manner. Was Nepe there in the audience at Patan Dhoka? No. Did Nepe read the Kantipur report (of 2 April 2004) of my half-hour long Nepali-English stand-up comedy that made fun of, among others, the Palace, the parties and the Maoists? No. Since I don't have that Kantipur report myself at this time (though I will scan it and post it when I get it from Nepal), here's what I suggest Nepe to do in the meantime. Get in touch with Guna Raj Luitel at Kantipur Publications, and ask him what the content of my then satire was. Guna Raj, who wrote that Kantipur report might be able to tell Nepe waht is what. The truth, Nepe, might be different from what you wish to believe. The question is: Can you handle it WITH FAIRNESS? oohi ashu

Talking about tasting and testing, Nepe was conspicuously absent from KD's talk. I guess he'll do his tsting or tasting in private. Well, well. Different strikes for different folks! His pugnacious nature compels him to make a gratuitous attack on Ashu when Ashu catches him with his pants down, so to speak. But, Ashu being Ashu comes right back swinging full force. Touche, Ashu!!

Ashu, This is not the first time I am mentioning the "monarchy-friendliness" of your stand up at Dhokaima Cafe. We had several weeks long fight on that in the past, don't you remember ? You are also pretending to have forgotten that you had posted a link to an audio clip of your presentation. Anyway, I will be waiting from you the scan of Luintel's review in Kantipur. Let's see if he indeed has certified your stand up as not being monarchy-friendly as you are implying here. Yes, I will be fair.
