The DC rally was very successful. Congratulations to everyone who organized it, and particularly to the many hundreds of people who took their Sunday to express themselves at this historic rally. Many came from hundreds of miles away -- a great demonstration of how important democracy is to people. It was peaceful, and a small handful of pro-king people even came and expressed themselves, but there was no harrasment and everyone was respectful. It was a great example of democracy in action. There is a report on the rally posted at - http://www.freenepal.org A lot of speeches given at the rally are posted there as well.

First of all, my congratulation to not only the success of the rally, but to most importantly to the success of all nepalese being in one place in a group and not creating chaos. Meeting of nepalese in a big group, whether a small friendly gathering, a concert or a football match, or simply ANA convention, it always invites trouble, most popularly in the form of a fight. So no fight huh in DC rally? Bravo, nepalese !!!!!!!!

Two lamas did a great job of wishing peace with Buddhist mantras. The delivery was very effective, short and sweet. The gathering was sizable and slogans were very impressive. Most slogans written on a big board were very timely, and a slogan carried by a gentleman in Dhaka Topi, comparing Gyanendra to Iraq and Saddam was unquestionably the slogan of the day. Several people shared that slogan to have a mug shot taken. Thanks to writers? creativity! Mr. Joshi spoke eloquently. All other speakers spent several minutes in front of the microphone wasting their and listener?s time. Mostly they repeated the same thing delivered by the previous speakers, over and over. Surprisingly, it provided a unique relief from Ratna Park nostalgia. Listeners were either renewing their friendship or speaking on their cell phone to their dear ones. The most conversed sentence, among the listeners was, probably, ?k chha halkhabar??. ?Ajkal ta bepatta?? came second or third. Murari Sharma spoke for almost an hour. In the beginning he claimed he carried severe risks by participating in the rally ? the danger came from Nepali government/ king. As a first proof, according to what he said, was his term not being continued as a UN standing representative (?). Does discontinuance of his term count as being targeted? Personally I don?t know the intricacies ? how these people are made what they are. Please someone throw some light. Subsequent speakers had nothing new to deliver ? the sole purpose of having them on the rostrum looked as if the organizers had to provide them time and place to speak what they wanted to speak. Some sort of a vicious circle? Lessons learned 1. Nepalis need to learn to speak short. 2. Don't give Nepali a microphone.

Lessons learned 1. Nepalis need to learn to speak short. 2. Don't give Nepali a microphone. LMAO :) Rbaral, I second you. Hahahaha. ".....................As a first proof, according to what he said, was his term not being continued as a UN standing representative (?).................." ---> So his interest in democracy arises fro the fact that his term was not renewed?? LOL. Isn't he the STAR speaker in the rally. Among other good/bad that came from the rally, if anything at all, Mr. Joshi got a plateform to take out the 'unjustice' done upon him by the government by not renewing his term. SABAI LAI AFNO TERM NAI PYARO. LOL Aba kheladi haru lukera bhagne team bata, gayekar/kalakar show ma auda bhagdine, teacher haru govt. payroll ma auda na farkidine, aba our very own AMBASSADOR OF UN, ( matlaab, united nation (WORLD) ma NEPAL ko PRATINIDHOTYO GARNE) pani ke kaam ta. After all he was 'just' an ambassador to U.N. ( Read with sarcasm. PLEASE) Je hoss, sabai ko maan santi hoss. Ani Suzi babe ko khabar chai ke cha sunum na. :) IndisGuise:)

Murari Raj Sharma is lying. He served his full 4 year term from 2000-2004. Only a few hardwoking ambassadors get their terms extended, otherwise after 4 years, you are required to go back to Nepal. Anyways, Even as a Nepali ambassador, Murari wasn't serious about his job. Although he was Nepal's representative/ambassador to the UN, he was working for another agency (UN or something else, I am not quite clear), and he didn't lobby for Nepal in the security council.(If he had lobbied on behalf of Nepal's bid to become a member of the security council, we would be a little influential in the UN, but Mr. Sharma suddenly woke up one day and decided that he was not going to support either poor Nepal or curropt HMG and instead would search for a job that would pay him $$$). So the govt. had no reason to keep him at the job. They had to call him back. however, he decided to stay in the US and work for that agency. He faces no threat from either the King or HMG.

though i was not in rally, i am not a big fan of Mr. Sharma. I feel pity to those who invited him to address the crowd. A person who cannot represent his country and government in the international community and disregards the decision made by his government (not withstanding democratic or non-democratic) does not represent our concern at all. I think we have conflict of interests here.

taken from nepalnews... Pramod Aryal of Georgia drove for 12 hours to reach the rally, picking up a friend in South Carolina along the way. Girija Gautam of Nashville, Tennessee was among the many who considered the rally worth the price of a plane ticket. ........................................................................................................... Oki, it might be a great thing and everything in between but why do they have to mention such things ? Just cause that man drove for 12 hrs which is really not that far...makes him a HERO ? Duh!! Looks like there is a lack of good news. DUHhh!

Gyaney Bhaktas should be awakened by this event. Freedom is the most important thing for every human being. Those who are Gyaney Bhakta, they all should be put in Zoo because I've seen there are many many vacant places there. So, Gyaney Bhaktas, please go to ZOO for your secured place.

So why don't your ass go back to Nepal and lick Gyane's balls? Why are you wasting your time? What if Mr. Murari wants to stay here and live here. What is your freaking problem? You a piece of Gyane's turd.

Maybe the rally participants should have faked the burning of a copy of Newsweek magazine...THAT would've had Amrikans' attention pronto! Either that, or they should've claimed Hritik Roshan was the guest speaker....

Sarba pratham, Gyane chor daka, deshlai lutne. Monarchy should be abolished. We want democracy. Everyone should be under the law. Phewwwwwwwwwww, now that i have satisfied my customary obligation to the ones who can not help but have to spit venom on anyone who does not concur or rather disagrees with them in any shape or form, lemme put few of my feelings. :) And Sujata Koirala flew all the way from the lap of her indian leaders/beau. And her journey defying odds and placing herself in harms way... blah blah blah a la that chinky woman (leader) ( sorry deemag ma cha naam nai ayenaa, dhet). All crap. Bitch. Anyways, i am interested is to have a look at the pic. Totally for phun.:) Hancyguy, I am in the same boat. Mr. Murari was not just anyone, a riskshaw wala, tempo driver, bhariya ( with due respect to their hard profession), he was for god's sake a Nepali CHOOSEN to REPRESENT NEPAL to the WORLD. Afu hunda majja le govt. payroll ma ahile chai natakbazi. Yeti ho mero bhanai. Tyati bhanne ta MERO pratinidhityo garne UN ma, uslai bhannu pani napaine. Democracy eh? This is your democracy? Ke dunga haneko chau Murali ji lai? Ke pesonal kura ma je payo tyai bhaneko chau? Or neither have I burned public property or anything as such. Only expressed what i feel. Can your democracy take it in a democratic manner???? Sakdaina bhane Maafi chahanchu. IndisGuise:)
