We're now on minority . hahhaha

I think lots of our brothers and sisters did not fill up the Census Form (in a way it is good). If they know there are lots of <> in US, they would stop giving our brothers and sisters significant number on DV Lottery.
Like they say: "Whatever happens....happens for good." I guess so.

But we need to be in cencus so they know our interest really matters too and for our voice.
So brothers and sisters are coming to make my program successful, right?

It is spiritual presentation where we will discuss from various scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagwad Gita, Quran, and other religious scriptures.

You would have thought that ANA as an organization for betterment of Nepali ppl would have taken an initiative to do something like this. But Nooo !! They got better agenda of milking $$ off our Nepali bhedas. lol!!  Like that flowery full of fluff speech the ANA president wrote," Come to Dallas Gimme your cash !!"  

Is this a speech like those babajis give about life?

ANA is not only for youth like you. It is for growing numbers of ABCDs (American born confused Desi) and their parents and their grand parents too. It is for nepalese american businessmen to promote business, for nepales lawers etc etc

May be for some politicians who wants to be like Darsan Rauniyar,   But alas they try to do Nepal politics.

• Buna Dahal: For seven consecutive years Buna Dahal –the employment specialist at the Colorado Center for the Blind– placed 85% of her clients in rewarding positions through the competitive job market. A child born blind in Nepal soon encounters the boundaries of low expectations. This precocious child, Buna at age five, pushed against those boundaries and lead her own parents to the doorstep of the Provincial School for the Blind in Dharan, Nepal. Thus initiating a personal trajectory that found her in the United States as a scholarship student at the Overbrook International school at age 18, Columbia College in Chicago at 26, invited to present an empowering speech at the United Nations in March 2007, and Regis University School of Professional Studies earning her Masters just before her 38th birthday.

At the spare time Mr. Pandey is a Western and Eastern mystical thinker, philosopher, and writer. His first book “Order and Justice” was published in Texas in 1996 and recently published his another book entitled “Waves Metamorphosing into Revelation”.
2. Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche: He was born in 1954 in a village near Lhakhang Dzong in the southern region of Tibet bordering Bhutan called Lhodrak. Venerable Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche is a distinquished lama of the Nyingma Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, and is recognized as an esteemed and erudite scholar, an accomplished Dzogchen master, and an authentic and highly qualified teacher from an unbroken lineage of revered Palyul/Nyingma masters.

Swami Shri Haridas Ji is a Nepali citizen born in Kathmandu aged 40. A saint, Shri Haridas Ji is the only Nepali preacher of His Holiness Jagad Guru Swami Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj. He preaches the Vedic principles as described in the Hindu holy epics such as Puranas, Bhagavad Geeta, Ramayana, etc and as taught by the Jagad Guru, the great teacher of the world class. Swami Haridas Ji, previously a worldly person named Hari Panday, but a very talented and committed devotee, was transformed into a holy personality in October 2008 by divine teachings and gracious blessings from the Jagad Guru Kripalu Ji Maharaj. Thus, he was spiritually reborn as a saint with the new name Haridas given by His Holiness Guru Kripalu Ji.

Co-Founder of Flash Ventures. Currently a contestant for a Democratic candidate in Washington State’s first Congressional district. Born and grew up in Nepal, Rauniyar moved to the United States in 1991and received his Engineering degree from Oregon Institute of Technology and an MBA from Portland State University. Rauniyar has held various public positions such as the Democratic Precinct Committee Officer and member of the Snohomish County Democratic Central Committee. He is also a member of the Snohomish County Human Rights Commission and the Snohomish County Parks Advisory Board.

Coordinator and Moderator: Mr. Girija Gautam. Mr. Gautam is an attorney at law based in New York. He specialize is business immigration, real estate and corporate laws. He is a member of American Immigration Lawer's Association and International Medical Graduate Task force, legal advisor to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Everest times. He is an active member and an important advisor of NRNA.

1. Mukesh Singh: Mr. Singh is currently the Regional Coordinator of North-America for NRNA-ICC. Prior to this, he also served as the Senior Vice-President of NRN-NCC of USA. He has also served as the president of ANMA. Academically, he holds three Masters Degrees from the American Universities.
2. Dr. Prem Adhikari: Mr. Prem Adhikari, a professor of Chemistry at Richland College, Dallas holds his PhD degree in Biochemestry from University of North Texas, Denton, TX. Dr. Adhikari is the current president of Nepalese Society of Texas (NST).
3. Tsewang Sherpa Lama: Current Interim President of Association of Nepalis in America (ANA).
4. Bishnu Thapa: Ms. Bishnu Thapa is the current President of Nepali Women’s Global Network (NWGN). She holds her Masters Degreee in Education from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and holds a Certificate of Diplomacy in UN Systems. Currently, Bishnu is working as an interpreter for Language Service Associates and as an advocate for the Asian Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project in the U.S.
5. Guest Speaker: Dr. Upendra Mahato. Dr. Mahato is one of the most known faces among the NRNs worldwide. He is the Founding President of the global Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). He is the honorary consul General of Nepal in the Republic of Belarus, and also the president of the Russia-Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Moscow, Russia. He's a successful international businessman and a great philanthropist. He has businesses in many parts of the world including Russia, Belarus, Nepal, African countries, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and the USA.
6. Chair Person: Prahlad KC: President of NRN National Coordination Council of the USA. Mr. KC is an active member of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Immigrant Community. He was the first Asian American immigrant to be nominated in the Governor’s Advisory Council Member of refugee and immigrant from 1995 to 2010. Mr. KC has an extensive experience and expertise in water and wastewater management and design. His skills include institutional capacity building, strategic planning, program and design. He has led several projects with the UNDP, ADB, UNIDO and international Governments. He holds an MBA along with a Degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Water and Waste management from WIT and Diploma in Career discovery in Architecture from Harvard.

Nursing Forum:

Program Overview: Nepalese nursing professionals are growing day by day in the USA and for this reason, it is important for us to be connected. Last year, many Nepalese nurses from different States of US participated in the meeting held in ANA DC convention. The meeting formulated a committee for communicating with all nurses throughout the USA & Canada and exploring possibilities to originate an organization of Nepalese nurses. The meeting also assigned to draft bylaws to the committee so that a registration process of nursing organization would be started. During the forum there will be discussion on following topics:

1. Prepare a comprehensive list of nurses of Nepalese origin in the USA and Canada
2. Discuss on drafted bylaws
3. Membership drive
4. Exchange ideas and experience on professional growth of nurses

Girija Gautam:

Attorney At Law based in New York City. Law practice mainly focused on investment, employment and family based immigration to the clients anywhere in the United States. He also represents clients in Immigration Court, Federal Courts, and other courts. Provides representation on corporate and other legal matters. Mr. Gautam is also a community volunteer who is involved with several Nepali organizations and has been serving larger Nepali community in various capacities for over two decades.

Program Overview: An interactive discussion session exclusively dedicated to NRNs investment in Nepal will cover varied topics related to investment such as: Is Nepal a right place for investments - especially in the changed political scenario after May 27? Why one should or should not invest in Nepal? What are the risks and rewards associated with the Investment in Nepal? How NRNA as an organization can facilitate collective investment? What are the legal and logistic hurdles and solutions in investing in Nepal? What a potential investor can expect from the Government of Nepal to facilitate/protect their investments? Some of the steps undertaken by the Government of Nepal to promote NRN investments.

Coordinator and Moderator: Ratan Jha - Mr. Jha is very active member of the Nepali diaspora in North America. He’s the Advisor of NRNA-ICC for 2011-13, and also the Co-Chair of the NRNA’s Task Force on Promotion of Investments. Previously, he served as General Secretary of the NRNA-ICC (2009-11). He is also the founding President of ANTA (www.terai.org), the first ever Teraian association in the US to enhance and promote Teraian’s identity, culture and linguistic heritage in North America. He has businesses in the areas of real estate development and civil construction.

4. Anjan Shrestha: A successful entrepreneur and one of the champions of the Collective Investments among NRNs in USA. He has held several positions in NRN-NCC, USA and currently member of NRNA’s Task Force on Promotion of Investments.
5. Dr. Sudeep Shrestha: Dr. Shrestha did his Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology from TU, Masters and Ph. D. in Nutrition from University of Connecticut, postdoctoral research in Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University, Boston and currently involves at Nepal Food and Nutrition project at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Dr. Shrestha is leading the Association of Nepalis in Americas (ANA) Rural Nepal Development project and leaving to Nepal very soon to establish and implement these Nepal development projects to develop rural economy, health and education of the poor and vulnerable rural people.

Santosh Bhattarai: Born in a Hindu family (in a Brahmin family) from Bharatpur, Chitwan, Nepal, he is studying Buddhism, Christianity and Islam besides Hinduism since 2005. He considers himself as a student of comparative religion. He has read many Upanishads, few Vedas, Bible, Quran and Hadiths. Younger brother of four sisters, he holds his Bachelors Degree from East Central University in Oklahoma.

Empowering Women supported by NWGN/EDWON:

Program Overview: The Women Forum will explore the issues of NRN women who have been facing challenges of their identity, integrity and balancing act of running a family and their career path. The event also focuses on gender equality in terms of global and Nepal's prospective.

Coordinator: Bishnu Maya Pariyar - Bishnu Maya Pariyar, founder of Empower Dalit Women of Nepal (EDWON), is a prolific social entrepreneur. She holds Master’s degree in International Development and Social Change from Clark University, MA, USA. Ms. Pariyar now working in the United States as a family advocate and counselor on domestic violence, while dedicating the rest of her time to uplifting Nepal’s marginalized people. In addition, Ms. Pariyar has received a number of accolades, including The Bridge Builder Award from Harvard University, Perdita Hudson Human Rights Award by United Nations Association of USA.

1. Bishnu Thapa: Ms. Bishnu Thapa is the current President of Nepali Women’s Global Network (NWGN). She holds her Masters Degreee in Education from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and holds a Certificate of Diplomacy in UN Systems. 2. Prudence KC: Prudence KC has spent over 20 years advocating for underprivileged groups in Massachusetts. She earned a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Cambridge College, and works as the Senior Marketing Director advocating for senior citizens at Genesis Healthcare. She is a member of the Commonwealth Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
3. Bishnu Gurung “Ekata”: Bishnu Gurung is a life member of the Nepali Women’s Global Network, who has worked in women’s advocacy for over 20 years. She is the founding President of the Northern California Tamu Samaj. For the past two years, Ms. Gurung also served as Chair Person for the Women’s Program forum for the Nepal Association of Northern California and has coordinated successful International Women’s Day programs in California.
4. Bandana Hamal: Bandana Hamal, founder of Help Kids in Nepal, is Finance Controller of Association of Nepalese in Americas (ANA) 2012 Convention. She is Staff accountant of Commercial Metals Company. She holds 5 Years accounting degree from Texas Lutheran University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Accounting and Business management.
5. Kalpana Rimal: Kalpana Rimal, a core member of Help Kids in Nepal, is Stalls Coordinator for Association of Nepalese in Americas (ANA) 2012 Convention. She has Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Tribhuwan University. She is a house wife and a mother of two kids. She has great Social ethics.
6. Richa Sharma: Richa Sharma, a core member of Help Kids in Nepal, is Marketing Chair for Association of Nepalese in Americas (ANA) 2012 Convention. She has Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Human Resources, Training and Development and Masters in Human Relations and Business degrees from Texas Woman's University, Amberton University and Tribhuvan University respectively. She has 10+ years of work experience in Banking and Financial Institution, Non Profit /Humanitarian Organization including World Bank's (WB) Project and International Rescue Committee (IRC) Project in the field of marketing, human resources/recruiting, procurement and management.

2. Gary Guller: Mr. Guller is both a world-renowned, record-setting mountaineer and a professional, motivational and inspirational speaker, trusted by the world’s top organizations and corporations. In 2003, Gary was leader of the largest ever cross-disability group to reach Mt Everest Base Camp, at 17,500 feet. After setting this record, he went on to scale the peak, reaching the summit on May 23, 2003, and becoming the first person with one arm to summit Mt. Everest. Gary has gone on to become a trusted keynote speaker and personal executive coach.
3. Andy Cockrum: Producer/Cameraman/Editor. With over 15 years in the film and television industry, Andy has worked as an editor and special effects compositor on a vast array of projects for local, national, and international clients. In addition to his own film projects, Andy has worked in editorial and visual effects for several Robert Rodriguez films, including "Spy Kids 2", "Spy Kids 3D" and "Sin City".

Children Forum:

1. Bhabika Joshi: Born in Katmandu, Nepal, she moved to US with her parents when she was about eight years old. When she was six years old, she started writing miniature poems and started writing Mortals: Hayden Roux Chronicles when she was ten, finished and published it when she was thirteen, which was published in June of 2009 by iUniverse. Bhabika is currently working on a different project including the sequel to Mortals. She will start her senior year of high school in Fossil Ridge High School this fall to all advanced classes. She has already received multiple accolades for her contribution to writing. Her current residence is in Texas.
2. Kazal Lamichhane: Kazal was born in Nepal and came to the U.S when she was 5yrs old. Ever since she was a child she has always had a passion for the medical field and helping the community as well. Through the years, she has tried to achieve those goals. She has had many volunteering opportunities and graduated with more than 100hrs of volunteer service. Her passion for being in the medical field has still lived on. During her junior year in high school she got chosen to do clinical rotations at Baylor Hospital in Irving. Kazal is currently a Certified Nursing Assistant, which got her an internship at Las Colinas Medical Center where she got to work along side doctors and nurses. She has recently graduated as an honor student from The Jack E. Singley Academy and hopes to go further on with this. She will be attending Texas Womens University this fall as a freshman in hopes to getting closer to her dream to become an important figure in the medical field.
3. Ashra Acharya: Ashra is 20 years old and is currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in political science. She has lived in America for over 10 years now. She loves doing community service. Ashra has volunteered for Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, Nepali Student Association at UTA, UNICEF, March of Dimes, Student Congress, NST, and HiKids. She has also worked with Ronald Sledge in his campaign when he was running for Texas Railroad Commissioner this past year.

1. “Global Climate Change Issues: Challenges and Opportunities for Nepal” ~ Dr. Bibhakar Shakya.
   Recent studies have confirmed that human activities are directly responsible for a significant portion of global warming trends. Our heavy uses of fossil fuel and increased industrial pollutions have contributed considerably toward current global climate change. Majority of world scientists and politicians now believe that such human-induced climate change is threatening human livelihood on our planet with risks being significantly higher in developing countries as these countries are ill-equipped and have limited resources to tackle negative impacts of climate change. Nepal's geography makes it even more vulnerable than most other developing countries. For the last several years, Nepal has been recurrently suffering from global warming trends such as rise in annual mean temperature, intense rainfall events, frequent floods, disruptive monsoon season, threats from glacial lake outburst floods, and long dry spells and drought events. These trends not only damage and cause the loss of human lives, livelihoods and property, but also put a significantly heavy burden on Nepal's development progress. In addition, the effects of climate change in Nepal have far reaching consequences beyond its borders, impacting more 500 million inhabitants of the basin to the south. This paper discusses the severe challenges Nepal faces in the light of the global climate change issues and also presents new opportunities that Nepal can hugely benefit from as it can be a country of choice to attract global carbon funds.
   Dr. Shakya is currently working as a Senior Associate in the Energy, Environmental Policy, and Economics group. He has over 15 years of professional experience in energy industry, utility regulations, and economic evaluation projects that primarily focused on environmental policies and climate change issues. He had used a partial equilibrium energy-economic model to examine the scope of renewable energy to evaluate future environmental policies for addressing climate change goals. Prior to joining ICF, Dr. Shakya worked in Maryland Public Service Commission and Ohio Public Utilities Commission and was involved in a variety of projects that were directly related to power industry, utility regulation, state, and federal energy and environmental policies.
2. “Household energy use patterns and environmental issues in Nepal: Challenges and Opportunities”~ Dr. Sunil Malla
   Although Nepal has enormous potential for hydro power and the country is generously endowed with biogas, solar, wind and geothermal energy sources, so far less than 1% of hydro-power has been developed and only 70% of its households have access to electricity. At the same time, Nepal has witnessed increasing trends of local air pollution and melting of glacier lakes associated with climate change. This presentation focuses Nepal's household energy use patterns and corresponding air pollution issues, challenges and opportunities.
   Dr. Malla works as a consultant with Technology Consultancy Services. Prior to this, he worked as a senior researcher and faculty at Asian Institute of Technology, United Nations Environment Programme and Asian Development Bank. His major area of research includes modeling of energy systems development and its environmental implications.

3.      “Impressions and Reactions during my trip to Nepal”~ Dr. Bob Hopkins Dr. Hopkins, Professor and Philanthropist, will speak about  his Impressions and Reactions during his trip to Nepal. Bob Hopkins is a professor at the University of Texas in Arlington teaching Business Communications, with an emphasis on Social Responsibility and Philanthropy. Bob is the founder of Philanthropy World magazine, which focuses on donors who give to nonprofit and NGO efforts. Bob has spent most of his adult life helping nonprofits with their management and fundraising campaigns having led the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Bob also serves on nonprofit organization Boards of Directors, currently serving as an Advisor to Global Community in Education, building schools in remote areas of Nepal. Bob’s philosophy is that the “more you give the more you get”. Bob is the recipient of the Hero of Humanity Award from the Art of Living Foundation in India, for his development of the PAVE program (Philanthropy and Volunteerism in Education), teaching children about GIVING. The PAVE program is mainly taught in schools in Texas, but is transferable to children throughout the world. GIVING raises self-esteem which increases academic abilities.

• “ANA – Rural Nepal Development Program”~ Dr. Sudeep Shrestha
  ANA – Rural Nepal Development Program is a project supported and funded by the Association of Nepalis in Americas (ANA) and aims to promote health, education and economy of the poor rural people through agriculture development and food security in rural Nepal.
  Vision and goal: Sustainable development of rural economy, health and education of the poor rural communities in Nepal.
  Mission: Establishing food collection and small scale processing unit in each village to produce more food for processing, preservation and marketing to uplift poor rural people’s economic status and to reduce the problem of illiteracy, malnutrition and other public health problems in rural Nepal.
  Aims: The primary aim of this project is to improve literacy and decrease malnutrition and related public health problems in rural areas by improving socioeconomic status of people via food production, processing and marketing.
  Dr. Shrestha did his Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology from TU, Masters and Ph. D. in Nutrition from University of Connecticut, postdoctoral research in Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University, Boston and currently involves at Nepal Food and Nutrition project at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Dr. Shrestha is leading the Association of Nepalis in Americas (ANA) Rural Nepal Development project and leaving to Nepal very soon to establish and implement these Nepal development projects to develop rural economy, health and education of the poor and vulnerable rural people.

I can go with power point presentation too Bathroom coffee. Even the high schoolers know how to do power point presentation. So what is the difference  right? hahahha

As I already mentioned, there are always rotton apples among the good ones.

MNO that is a pretty impressive lineup for speakers. No matter what anyone says, I think ANA executives are going out of their way after the Boston fiasco to make ammends, and we have to welcome their effort to have a more transparent organization that caters to the Nepali population in the US.

I cannot imagine the amount of work that must have gone through for them to come up with this kind of lineup of speakers and established people.
