Who do you find responsible for the lower percentage of SLC pass-outs this year????
According to the Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE), Sanothimi, 47.16% students passed the examination in the regular stream. The success rate this rate has dropped by a staggering 8% from the 55.5% last year.
Most of the parents are found to be blaming either the teachers or the students themselves. But the question here, is not about blaming the teachers that they did not teach the students well or the students that they did not study well. The parents are also found cursing their wards stating that that their 10 years of investment on their wards went in vain.
But this is not the case.
The students are unable to learn in a peaceful environment due to the frequent strikes and bandhas and other identical political disturbances. The students seem to be keener in knowing whether the schools are open the day after or not rather than in studying.
Also the percentage seems to have dropped due to the change in the conduction system of the SLC examination this year. Strict measures, rules and regulations were introduced this year, which led to the conduction of the exam in a more disciplined and strict manner. The strict measures that were adopted this time contributed to the low pass rate.
Above all, talking about the biggest nightmare: LOAD-SHEDDING, students faced a greater problem this year because of the load-shedding.
Education experts said that this year’s SLC result was an indicator of the failure of the education system in the country.
The huge drop in the pass percentage makes it crystal clear that the education system in our country is not working properly.
