I am trying to get ticket to Nepal from Cathey Pacific and heard that we don't need transit visa to Hongkong if we are travelling in Cathay Pacific or Dragon Air. And travel agency said we need to have valid visa(no expired) on our passport.

Tara mero situation ali farak cha. Ma yaha aauda student Visa ma aaye tara ahile mero satatus H1B ho. Mero passport ma herda valid visa dekcha which will expire on aug 2012 tara US ma mero satutus change bhaisakyo.

Now my question is: Do I need transit Visa to Hongkong? Do they just check the passport to see the validity or they also check the supportive document(which is I20 in my case..i dont have any :( ). Do you guys any idea/experience in this? Please do share with me if you have any experience.

Just don't wanna get back when I am close to Home Country :)

 They cant check your status besides what you have. They dont have access. don't worry youre all set.

as long as you carry a nepali passport and a boarding pass to nepal, you won't need anything else. visas to us, supporting documents boka, but you won't be asked to produce them. no transit visa required in hk. i traveled few months back.

Just to be on the safe side, apply for the transit visa. If I am not wrong, it should be free.

"Hong Kong Transit visas are not required for Nepali passport holders traveling on Cathay or Dragon Air to the US or Canada."
If you read this sentence, it say Nepali passport holders travelling to the US or Canada and not travelling towards Nepal.

And if you really do need a transit visa, dont worry about being close to home and coming back because they wont let you get on the plane in US without that transit visa to Hong Kong. Lol.
