I heard that if U are in US for more than a year mainting legal status, U can call ur husband/wife to join. as we all know this is not the case for most of us.

One of my friend recently received the court approval notice to call his wife to UK. He hired one attorney since his wife's visa was rejected several times. When British embassy, Kathmandu was notified  about the court order, the consular CALL my friends's wife and issued the visa.  Sounds funny but this is ture.

Pls share if anybody have experienced the same situation or know anyting about this process for US.

Thanks for sharing guys.

ek@l,

I have been following your threads in Sajha . I can feel what situation you are going through and wish I could help you .
Although I am not aware of any court order to bring  spouse in US, but contacting your local senator might help you.  If  you explain them very clearly and put your situation, they might inquire why your spouse's visa was rejected. Ignore this suggestion if you have already done this one. Anyway, best of luck

RajaHarischandra, thank you very much for your advice.

no i haven't gone through the process u've suggested. one of the sajha user suggested me the same but i haven't done that yet.
do u think this could help? visa was rejected coupld of times and i don't know what next. there is no way i can go back to home right now  on this situation nor  can stay here peacefully. though i'm now trying to console myself, US is not the end of the world and i may do sth better back home but still..............i don't think this terrorist led government and unstable political situation is good enough to make some commitment right now.

again, thanks for sharing.  this is the reason why i  visit sajha that helps us to meet  the people like to who can understand others' problem.

Sorry to hear about multiple rejection of your wife's visa. I have heard of few cases they got approval after they contacted senators.

Regarding  government in Nepal, you have right to go back home and elect another favorable government of your own in next election.  Anyway, Good luck for your future.

ek@l,
RajaHarischandra is a good guy. his advices are usually right on the nail.

they usually give out reason for rejection. try to remedy those. i might sound ruthless but i believe there is no point in trying unless your situation changes (as a sponsor) and/or the visa classification under which your bride is applying. i.e. if she is rejected as an F1 dependent then it would be better if she applies just as a F1 student or wait till you get your H1B and she can apply as an dependent there.
b. if you came under self-finance and got a scholorship/assistantship this would improve your chance. et al.

ek@l this sounds funny and irritating but it works

FInd some us ctizen guy who is not married and pay him some $$, usually done in minnesota, dakota area
Tell her to bring your wife as fiance of that guy in paper in K1 visa, will also get a greencard from him, later divorce him
But little complcated, isnt it
but be sure dont let that guy dig his manly weapon in her

ek@l,

Here is an addition in my story. My wife's visa was rejected mentioning I am in OPT. So I quit my good job, apply for Ph.d which took me more than four months to get an assistantship. After that I went Nepal and applied stident VISA for both. Even though my entire family (sister, brother, parents) is in US and he also mentioned about that during interview, he had no problem issuing me and my wife VISA. I was lucky, the consular mentioned all the issues including her previous VISA rejection, having family in USA. I was surprised that he took circumstances positive and said I desirved it. So I am back to US again.
If you need any more information about these thing, please let me know.

Timer

I share with your pain of being your wife's visa rejected. It is still dissapointing to learn that you were not selected in the H1B lottery (if I correctly understand from your posting above) last year.

I had a similar situation. My wife's visa request was rejected 5 times. This happened when I was on F1. She got it very easily right after I had been in H1B.

Hope every thing will normalize and your lifemate will be here in the US in 2009!

In a different note, the situation in Nepal, I believe, is way better now than I was before. Definately, in the transitional period, we can not expect more.

As you rightly said, US is not the end of universe. There are opportunities galore even in Nepal.

If not then once take GRE exam if it's validity expires and apply for PhD. programme. I have heard and saw that PhD. scholars wife are getting visa without any objection means easily.
For PhD. programme at mgmt. once visit Iowa state university website i.e. www.isu.edu this may help you.

I have heard a case in New Hemshire that the guy did go to the senator and the senator's office made a call to Nepal embassy and they got the visa. But before you do that find out from your wife the reason they are giving her for the rejection of her visa and try to correct them if you can. One thing I found out is that a good amount of money in the bank goes a long way. That way they'll know that you'll be able to support her during her stay here in the US.  Since you are on F1 which means you can only work in campus for 20 hours a week and she won't be able to work under her F2, so having a good about of money here in the bank or if she is able to show them how all your expences are going to be met then I am sure they won't have any problem issuing her a visa.
All the best. It must be really hard living apart like this.

I know, Texas A & M University, a Tier 1 university, accepts GRE taken 10 or less years before provided  you agree to attend the test again once you are accepted to the university.

This also may help you.
