yes nowdays all dhoti comespanies are running payroll because if they dont they will be in deep shit.

Report for sure and make sure that you get your status though. Apply for a school if you are about to lose status.

Hi Pagarekancha40, Threaten them that you will report them to Department of Labor(the place where you go for all of your h1b problems). Either find another dhoti company or join school. Also for other solutions, look at murthy dot com forums. They have a lot of issues and resolutions there. If I was in your case, I would raise hell in dhoti consultancy, after making sure that my status is not in jeopardy. If I wan in your case, I would not wait for any more time with dhotis. Either get h1b and try to transfer to other company if possible, if not then do hell with that and join school, and be in status for a while untill the situation becomes good.

I think that your dhoti consulting company is not asking you anything extra they are just asking you to pay $600 to run your paystubb and save your status. If you dont have it just speak to them frankly. I bet they have other ways to save your status (like sick leave). They also provided you food and training and at  least they tried something for you.

I am also in the same situation like yours I have H1 b but no job. My dhoti consulting company couldnt provide any trainings, couldnt do any marketing, harldy answers my phone calls, most of the time husband is in india and wife take cares of the business. I even asked to generate a paystubb for me and I'll pay for it but they refused . So no any kind of support at all. but yours doesnt sound that bad to me. May be I dont know the real situation but think twice before you ake any action.
