Situala warns nation might slip into civil war if PLA commander installed as NA chief

A day after Nepali Congress (NC) made hue and cry in the Constituent Assembly over CPN (Maoist) allegedly trying to install their People's Liberation Army (PLA) chief Nanda Kishore Pun 'Pasang' as the chief of Nepali Army (NA), former Home Minister and NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula warned that the nation might slip into civil war once again if that is done.

Speaking to reporters at eastern town of Biratnagar Friday morning, Situala, who was one of the government negotiators during the transition period, said without directly referring to Pun that if an individual involved in politics is installed as the chief of [national] army then "the Nepal Army will come under the direct command of the Maoists", in turn increasing the danger of the country moving back into conflict.

He agreed with NC whip in the CA, Shobhakar Parajuli, who had said during yesterday's CA meeting that CPN (Maoist) is engaged in a ploy to appoint Pun as Army Chief secretly, adding that they (Maoists) are "not the kind who can fit into Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force or any security apparatus".

He, however, said that all this thing [about appointing Pun to Army Chief] can just as well be "a rumour" as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who he referred to as "Chairman Prachanda", has said nothing about it.

Situala, who is in Biratnagar to make arrangement for the nationwide "party-revival campaign" set to begin from Saturday to expose Maoist-led government's hidden agendas, said that if this rumor about Maoists planning to send Pun to China for the defense course is indeed true then it could invite "a huge catastrophe" for the country.

"If the rumor is true then it would be wrong of China to invite a person associated with a political party for military training," he bluntly added.

According to reports Maoist are planning to send Pun, who was promoted to the post of chief of PLA after PM Dahal relinquished the position of supreme commander of the Maoists army after he took over the post of premiere in August, to China where he will receive a nine-month defence course, which NC whip Parajuli claims is a "part of the Maoists' covert strategy to prove that Pun meets internationally accepted standards to hold the post of chief of the National Army."

NA used to send a senior Army official to China for the defense course, one who was touted as the next army chief, Parajuli said in a written speech.

He further informed that the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has created four seats- two for NA and two for civilians - for the course in China, as per the plan that was made during Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa's visit to China last month

Let me tell you one thing. With the integration of PLA into NA in whatever forms, country will plunge into another Civil War (worst than that of last 12 years) and sure Terai will split as warned by Gachhedar. This is all well crafted plan of RAW and Maoist and political parties are just the puppets of their uncle India. You mark this point!

nepal as we know it now will be a part of new "gurkhaland" state of india. it will be interesting to see if the chief minister will be prachanda or one of the guys from darjelling who are leading the current gurkhaland movement in india right now.

bottom line - we will be just another prashant tamang or prakriti giri....you can take as much pride you want in being a nepali but at the end of the day you are still bowing your head to the indian flag, singing indian national anthem, indentifying yourself as indian to the rest of the world as you will be travelling with indian passport, and last but no the least, bapu jee aka mahatma gandhi will be the founder of your great nation of hindustan!

I know many dont agree with me specially Bathroomcoffee bro...........BUT I personally believe that our King can only save Nepal now.Its just my personal opinion not enforcing any one to agree with me at all.  Things are getting out of controll and like GT bro said ....who gave these people right to decide who dont have a majority in CA??????.....................How can Maoist and PLA who killed eachother for years work together???? Most of you guys here I think are fortunate as you did not have to face the terror of YCL and Maoist. During CA and before CA, me, my family and people of my neighborhood faced terror and trouble because of these, I would call them, terrorist. If you ask me, people (most of them were uneducated) made tremendous mistake in 2063. The whole movement was provoked by political leaders and backed by India. We would have been better country as a KINGDOM OF NEPAL the Republic. This is just early sign we are seeing, there are lot more to come...

Even we say peace, there will be NO PEACE. I am not being pessimist but realist.
