Hello all sajha users,
I am posting this thread just to share my DV experience, it may or may not be helpful to all. It could be helpful for those who are planning to get married after they win the lottery.
I received my first letter on first week of April 2007.
I got married on first week of October 2007. I did not do any process in between because we were not sure if visa could be available for the spouse also. Anyway, we got married, and the second week of October we mailed the package to KCC with fee of $750 (I think it was 375 for each of us).
We were just waiting for our numbers to be available on visa bulletin. Finally, our numbers were available in December. On first week of December we mailed the fee ($2020) and application to the USCIS along with the medical certificates.
2nd week Dec: got the receipt
15th Jan 2008: biometrics
1st week of Feb: both got our travel document.
2nd week of Feb: my husband got his employment authorization card
29th Feb: got my employment authorization card
15th Jul: got the interview letter for both
15th Aug: Interview
The consular was very nice and relaxing. He did not ask us any question besides verfying our personal information. He wanted to see our pictures; we took a big album and he went thoroughly. Lastly he wanted to know if we were working. We both gave him our work verification letter from our employers.
15th August: Interview successful
22nd Aug: Welcome letter received
27th Aug: Greencard received.
Just want to say not to stress out if you are planning to get married after winning the lottery. It should be as easy as if you were to apply single.
Good Luck for all 2009 DV winners.
