King's interview to a Japanese magazine has ruffled lot of feathers. He honestly spoke about the illegality of interim constitution to remove MONARCHY!

King honestly said that 'HE WILL LEAVE IF THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL DO NOT WANT MONARCHY, AND HE WILL ACCEPT THAT DECISION'. King also added that according to recent polls 49%+ Population of Nepal Still Support The Monarchy!

THIS IS A SLAP ON THE FACE OF 'HIJRA' LEADERS LIKE GP, MAKUNE, DEUBA, etc.; and especially prachande!!!!

We Hindus Should Be Alert To The Schemes Of Anti-Hindu People In Nepal.

For Hindus It is Our Last "KING". Every other religion has a King, eg. Budhitsts, issais, musaltes etc. SO WHY NOT FOR US HINDUS?????????????????????????????????

Monarchy has nothing to do with a person: IT IS IN AN INSTITUTION.

The elections of April 10, 2008, if they are held WILL DEFINITELY INSTALL THE KING BACK.

60% People of Nepal may be illiterate BUT THEY ARE NOT STUPID, Nepal is not africa or s-america. Nepal's people are of diverse ethnic background united to SAVE NEPAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long Live Nepal's Monarchy!

This is what BBC reported:

NEPAL's KING CRITCIZES PARLIAMENT

The king argues that he still retains some support

King Gyanendra of Nepal has criticised the recent decision by the country's parliament to abolish the monarchy.

In a rare interview, given to a Japanese newspaper the king said the move did not reflect popular opinion.

Correspondents say that during the course of his interview with the paper, Yomiuri Shimbun, the king appeared to criticise the Maoist party.

He said some party leaders had tried to take action that was against Nepal's traditional values.

The Maoists have consistently called for the abolition of the monarchy in Nepal, which was one of their central demands while fighting a 10-year civil war which ended in 2006.

'Great meaning'

The king reportedly said the decision to abolish the monarchy "doesn't reflect the majority view of the people".

"This isn't democracy," he was quoted as saying. "Some leaders have tried to take action that's against cultural, social and traditional values.

"A majority of the people find great meaning in the institution of the monarchy.

"In all clouds, there is a silver lining. Let us hope," he said.

The Maoists have been accused of reneging on their promises

But the king was also reported by the Japanese newspaper as conceding that the Nepalese people do have the right to choose the fate of monarchy.

"The Nepali people themselves should speak out on where the nation is heading, on the direction it is taking and on why it is becoming chaotic," he said.

A parliamentary vote in December determined that the country will be declared a republic in April, formally ending nearly 250 years of dynastic rule.

The current ruling dynasty in Nepal dates back to 1769.

It was rocked in June 2001 when the then Crown Prince Dipendra shot dead his parents, King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya, and seven other members of the royal family before killing himself.

This brought to the throne Gyanendra, the former king's brother.

'Blatant violation'

In a separate development, the Maoists have been criticised for trying to resurrect a council that operated as their "parallel government" during the insurgency.

The biggest political party, the Nepali Congress, said the decision was a blatant violation of a peace agreement under which the Maoists had dissolved their United Revolutionary People's Council.

The Maoists have denied the body will resume the sort of governing, tax-collecting role it played during the years of fighting.

They say it will work to implement development in the countryside.

THIS IS THE PIECE FOUND FROM Daily Yoimuri:

Nepalese king laments abolition of monarchy

Yoshio Hanada Yomiuri Shimbun Correspondent

KATMANDU--Nepal's King Gyanendra expressed displeasure Monday over the recent decision by the country's lawmakers to abolish the monarchy, saying: "[The decision] doesn't reflect the majority view of the people. This isn't democracy." The king's remark was in reference to the December decision by the seven major parties comprising the interim government to abolish the monarchy after a constituent assembly election scheduled to be held on April 10.

Speaking to several Japanese reporters at the royal palace, Gyanendra, apparently unable to reconcile himself to the end of a dynasty that has lasted about 240 years, said, "They [the people] have the right to choose the fate of the monarchy."

Gyanendra has rarely appeared in public since being forced to cede his powers following weeks of public unrest in the spring of 2006. The remarks were thus a rare insight into the king's latest thoughts on his country's politics.

"Some leaders have tried to take action that was against cultural, social and traditional values," Gyanendra said, in an apparent criticism of the Maoist party leadership, which is at the forefront of moves to abolish the monarchy.

The king also pointed out that law and order is deteriorating, questioning the interim government's ability to govern.

Mentioning the recent survey conducted by a local research institute, which showed 49 percent of respondents favored the continuation of the monarchy in some form, Gyanendra said: "A majority of the people find great meaning in the institution of the monarchy. In all clouds, there is a silver lining. Let us hope."

Gyanendra took the throne in 2001 after his brother, King Birendra, and eight other royals were shot dead by the then heir to the throne, Dipendra. Gyanendra tightened control through such actions as the dissolution of the parliament in 2002. However, he gave in to mass protests led by the Maoists and other major parties in April 2006, declaring a return to multiparty democracy.

An interim Constitution that was approved in January 2007 stripped political power from the king.(Feb. 7, 2008)

I absolutely agree with the King. King had one mistake compared to hundreds of thousands of Mistakes by Maoists and other politicians. Nepal need monarchy, which is their identity, the binding force and a system which has ties to the culture and history of Nepal.. I still believe that majority of Nepal's population support monarchy who fear YCL to express their opinion. King had never forced the issue, even when he removed Deuba it was constituitional and the whole circumtance was like that. Even if it was a mistake and had hampered the democracy, King realized that and handed the power to people's representative. Such mistake could be prevented in future by correcting constitution not by abolishing Monarchy. Maoist has been the driving force of SPA, they are forcing thier will and all other six parties are acting like impotent. They are celebrating birthday of autocratic Kim Jong Ill instead of National Icon Prithvi Narayan Shah, which is absurd.

Absofugginlutely!!  Like I've always said before, the Maosits muscled their way into the govt and now they're the ones who're running the show by doing whatever the hell they want to and the SPAM is allowing all that BS to take place.  Listen if KG was a blood-thirsty dumbazz like Prachanday is, Nepal would've been a dictatorship a looongg time ago...And that would've been the best solution to all this mess.  C'mon, any fool can see that Prachanday and Babufugram have done all this BS for their own personal gains.  I haen't seen any developments in ANY part of Nepal except areas wherever their cadres are dominant and WTF is a parallel police force (the YCL), a parallel army (the Maoist soldiers) and whatsoever crap these shit-heads have brought about.  Its downright appalling!!

KG supporters should be given a chance to vote on the demise of the Royal line rather than have the parliament (swayed by Maoist fear) to decide the outcome.  The Moaists act like they're the governement itself these days and Girijababu is watching the whole process unfurl like a valedictorian of a deaf and dumb academy.  I sincerely feel that if only the leaders would've waited a month or more, we'd have had the Terai movement take care of these Maobadis for good...Without a strong support base in the Terai, the Maos would've been doomed.

A red salaaam up Prachanday and Babushitram's hairy azz!!

i also agree that the instution of monarchy should remain in nepal or else the corrupt political leaders will get a free license to do what ever they want.it is the right of nepalese people to decide whether or not to have the monarchy and an unelected government should not be allowed to make such a historical decision.

If we want Nepal to be united we need the institution of monarchy in whatsoever form. The Prachandeys do'nt want that as they are a puupet in the hands of CPI(M), CPI, Forward Bloc etc. etc.etc. these parties are a part of the united progressive alliance (UPA) the ruling coalition in India.

The party leaders  of the above said parties will also be visiting Nepal shortly one after another for Election campaign in Nepal. Have you ever known about any kind of these things happening in any other part of the world. (Somebody from  a  political party of Newzealand going to Campaign for a political  party in Australia or vice versa)

If the politicians believe in democracy, if they believe they are doing a good job and the people will support them, they should hold a referendum on the abolition of democracy. Ten years ago, people would have overwhelimnigly voted against the aboliton of democracy but after a string of unpopular and undemocratic moves by the king I would say there is a pretty good chance that the monarchy would be abolished.

Personally, I am a supporter of monarchy. I believe in constitutional monarchy where neither the king / queen or their family members are above the constitution. Salaried, without stipends, and fully taxed. Subject to each and every law a common citizen is subjected to. That's an ideal monarchy. But if the monarchs start inching towards tyranny and totalitarianism, then the people are better off without such monarchs.

At thsi moment, the problem in Nepal is that supporting any one among the king, the politicians or the maoists would be like jumping from a frying pan into the fire.

Amen.

Let me tell you something,

Now  few folks here are singin slogan of King, and U know what will happen if Gyane comes in power..
