Hi all,

A very near and dear relative is in terminal condition at a hospital in New England, US. The doctors have said that we should start preparing for the eventuality.

I have come here to ask for your help and information.
Specifically:
1. What is the procedure to ship the body "uncremated" from US to Kathmandu, Nepal? If you are aware of a cost estimate, it will be appreciated. Do we need to get any papers from Nepal / US?
2. Any idea what are the cost of cremation services in New England area?

Thanks
In Distress.

Thanks visitor. I really appreciate that you cared to reply.

I have emailed various Airlines (including United). All of them told me to contact a local funeral house saying that the funeral house will provide the shipping rates. I will do that surely - but it will be of great help to me if I have some idea of what to expect both cost-wise and documentation-requirements.

Once again, I hope people in the broad Nepalese community in US who might have been involved in similar situations would also care to reply.

I remember some folks doing this from NYC sometime ago. I think they said they had to pay abt 10K. I could check for you, but I am sure that it is the funeral service that arranges it (including readying the body for long distance travel).
