Really a touching write up. I can exactly relate to your story because I also lived in a place similar to yours. Having lived there for 5+ years, I finally left it and now I am missing it so much. The cute western European island had been a second home to me. Inspite of being in 52 degree North lattitude, that place didn't have much snowfall, had mild, bright summers. The only things I didn't like were everlasting darkness in the winter and capricious weather. Though English being the official language, people spoke it with a peculiar accent, which I eventually came to enjoy.

The medieval Georgian architecture, world famous pubs, bars, traditional music and dance made that place so special. As an admirer of antiques and relics, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole country with a checkered past. The festival I used to enjoy the most was the flamboyant celebration of St. Patrick's Day.  Four Courts, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Customs House and many more architectural treasures embellished the beautiful, quiet city. People were amiable, garrulous and funny.

Although being a person with avid interest in travelling, unlike you, I couldn't generate adequate opportunity to travel across Europe. London and some cities in The Netherlands were the only places I could go, Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam being the most amazing places, London followed closely.

Now I am on the other side of the Atlantic, in a gargantuan, modern country, with glass buildings everywhere and highways running like snakes.  Whenever I see a tiny old church in the middle of those buildings, I stare at it with joy and my European past come to life again.

I wanted to write in short, but I now realize that I have so much to write, so I will find some appropriate time later. To cut it short, I will post a pic of that beautiful place, where I lived nearly one-fifth of my life so far.

I think life is all about experiencing new things and moving a head. In that course, we miss many good things... perhaps thats a chance to find new-better things.. ki kaso bro?

The pic u have posted is a really nice, so did u take that yourself? it sounds like some festival or Christmas light... Im sure when u look back those snaps, u feel like u know all the streets and and crossed the pavement many times.

Yes, I took that snap myself on Christmas day almost two years ago. Its a famous pedestrian street in Dublin called Grafton Street which is considered to be the most opulent street in Ireland. In the day, its a bustling street with shoppers, street singers, performers etc. I have walked through it like a million times and I am as fond of it as any alley of Patan!

I will write about my experiences whenever I have time, and you know how lazy I am!
