Mr. Birendra Shah was abducted about 26 days ago. THERE ARE CONFLICTING NEWS ABOUT HIM. The worst news is that he has been killed.

PASHUPATINATH PLEASE TAKE CARE OF Birendra Shah.

Today, Oct 30th 2007, Tue, GP Koirala said that he will disclose Mr Shah's whereabouts in '2 to 3 days', WHAT IS GP TRYING TO SAY?

If Mr Shah is already dead THEN WHAT IS THAT GP WILL INFORM IN 2 TO 3 DAYS?

Shameful!

LET US ALL SAJAHITES START A PROTEST AGAINST MAOISTS ACTIVITIES.

Let us protest about killings, abductions and all other terrorist activities of these maoists-terrorists.

Article from Nepalnews.com

PM promises to make public Shah's whereabouts in 2-3 days

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala assured the family of abducted journalist Birendra Shah that his whereabouts will be made public within 2-3 days.

According to president of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Bishnu Nishthuri, who was also present during the meeting between PM Koirala and Shah's wife Umaravati Shah and her two kids, the PM said that the actual state of Shah will be made public in 2-3 days after investigation.

After meeting with the Prime Minister, Umaravati Shah broke down when media persons asked her if she thinks her husband's situation will be known now.

Shah had been abducted 26 days ago. Various groups, rights organizations and parliamentary panel have concluded that Maoists are responsible for his abduction.

Maoists, on the other hand, have formed a three-member committee headed by Hari Bhakta Kandel to "find out the truth."

"There is no policy and no instruction by the party (to abduct journalist). But if somebody is found to have done so, the party will take action," said Kandel. nepalnews.com sd Oct 30 07

I hope Mr. Shah is just abducted and will be released. If god forbidden he is murdered, then this would be Maoist's one of the biggest mistake concerning the present situation, they just can't get away with this. Also the present useless government have to answer a lot of people.

Sathi ho, Afno Desh ta "Gayo-Gayo" bhanda bhandi Gayi-ni-sakyo. So much for a decade and half of Democracy.

Because this is not a crime as diabolic as the king visiting temples. That's why.

Another example of Maoist atrocity. It is just a tip of an iceberg.

YCL men held on charges of extortion, abduction

Kantipur Report

DHANGADHI, Oct 31 - Police on Monday night arrested 12 cadres of the Maoist's Young Communist League (YCL) from Taranagar area of Dhangadhi on the charge of extortion and abduction.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the district Ganesh Rai said YCL cadres were arrested in possession of weapons when they were trying to abduct a restaurateur at 12 pm.

After barging into the local Try Again Restaurant and Bar at midnight, they (YCL cadre) attempted to abduct its proprietor, police said.

The arrested include three women YCL cadres. Rajesh Chaudhary, the municipal in-charge of the Maoist wing was also arrested.

Police also confiscated five khukuris, seven sticks, four mobile sets and 10,700 rupees from them.

SSP Rai also informed they were closely observing YCL activities of extortion and abduction in Dhangadhi municipal area in recent times. "Finally, we succeeded in apprehending them on Tuesday while they were trying to kidnap a hotelier."

However, the YCL district in-charge "Mukti" maintained that they were not involved in any act of extortion or abduction. He added that they were simply trying to ban gambling during Dashain and Tihar festivals.

According to SSP Rai, the arrested Maoists will be released only after investigation and due legal process. He also admitted having received pressure to free the YCL cadres from Maoists.

Prachanda concedes involvement of his cadres in abduction of journalist

Maoist chairman Prachanda has conceded the involvement of his party’s cadres in the abduction of Bara-based journalist Birendra Shah.

During his meeting with a delegation of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) including wife, brother and kids of the abducted journo, Prachanda promised to take action against those involved in the abduction of Shah

“He did not refute reports that Shah was abducted by Maoist cadres,” said Bishnu Nishthuri, president of FNJ, who was present during the meeting.

According to Nishthuri, Prachanda said his party has no policy of abducting journalists. “He said his party will cooperate to take legal action against those involved in the abduction of Shah,” said Nishthuri.

The whereabouts of Shah, who was abducted 27 days ago, still remains unknown even though various organisations including FNJ and parliamentary panel have already concluded that he was abducted by local Maoist leaders of Bara district.

“Both Prime Minister and Prachanda have said they will make public the whereabouts of Shah within three days. So, FNJ will wait for three days after which we will launch agitation,” said Nishthuri.

At the initiative of FNJ, family members of Shah met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday and with Prachanda on Wednesday. They have come to Kathmandu to plead for safe release of Shah

from www.dautari.org
Abduction and killing of journalists, it’s always common in every autocratic regime. Such things were not odd in Nepal during Panchyat System. We have still living victims of that era. Lets not talk about Rana regime. Not only they were against journalists, they were even against public education. That’s why we have fallen so much behind in education system. Benefit of present education is just a certificate. Even certificates imported from Bihar are equally powerful like them. After 1990, it was kind of relief for journalists however most journalists ended up as party candidates. Some magazines even had party flags right at the front page. Readers used to gather in groups and grab their favorite magazines. News were so much fake that same events were described in entirely different manners. Those magazine just helped political parties to wash the people's brain by their ideology. After Maoists waged war against government, a lot of journalists became victim. Many of them lived in the fear of that they would be next Dekendra Thapa or Gyanendra Khadka. This series went on and on. Still some journalists didn’t fear from their .303 and continued publishing what they found. Umesh Gurung, Bikram Giri et.al. were abducted and released repeatedly. Such shameful events were in shadow because everyone was feared to speak. Still there were some journalists who were proud to be associated with Maoists. Anyone can believe any philosophy. But why don’t they write what they saw? A month back, same thing happened. Birendra Shah who had reported about the involvement of Nepal's Maoist guerrillas in timber-smuggling was abducted at gun-point in broad daylight. After more than 4 weeks, no one knows about his whereabouts. Most news agencies have called Shah Nepal's 'Daniel Pearl' after the Wall Street Journal journalist who was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in 2002. This means we have lost his smile like Danny. Probably after some days somebody will call this as an unfortunate event and we Nepalese people will loose one more Nepalese citizen and a journalist. It wont be unusual if we see some journalists quiet as they used to be in the past.

If Birendra Shah becomes another statistics...why are we still talking and not doing what we have to do? If the Nepali govt. cannot carry out its duties to protect the safety of her citizens, what is stopping us from coming together to draw up and submit the PETITION FOR PEACE AND PROTECTION OF THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL to the UNITED NATIONS. Are we going to keep on talking as people disappear one by one? Or are we going to exercise our rights as citizens of Nepal?

Yeah Prachanda is going to take care of his cadres just like Bush is going to prosecute all Iraqi war criminals(he just handed out immunity for all the fugging Blackwater mothafuggers the other day).

He has yet to prosecute those extortionists and rapists.

All he does is asstalk like a true politician. Don't trust a word this mothafugger says.

Maoist can't handle the frustrated anger of nepalese people, they know that and that's why Prachanda was finally forced to admit that there is an involvement of their carades. I hope Mr. Shah comes home safely.
