I have a serious concern growing in my mind right now,
Since, I never liked any threads regarding the Diss for BAHUN, I had spkoken against some of our sajha member to stop these BAHUNISM and NEWARISM thread,
but it seems little cloudy now,
My recent Post "NEWARS KILLED CHETTRI"
yeah it is a CONTROVERSIAL THREAD, and I wanted to make it, so that people can unerstand that one shouldn't say anything bad regarding casts,
Now All the Threads that States " NEWARS" doesnt exist anymore in SAJHA,
I mean it is technically Removed by our BOSS so called "SAN"
and WHY THE HELL i am seeing the Thread against BAHUNS still lives in Sajha????
WHY???
is this because of the FACT SAN IS NEWAR?????
SAN,
Please answer me,
I know u have noticed me very well since several BAHUNISM like threads, and I hope to hear a good response from your side to make the air clear,
To Seiko and anyone who feels that sajha is racist in favor of Newars.
Lot of times we are quick in making judgement of others due to our prejudices which are unfortunately beyond our control - which are imbibed into our system from the time we grew up and started learning what is right and wrong. Racism (castism here) is one of the prejudices that many of us grow up with and knowingly or unknowingly we become victims of the prejudices which were spread by lack of education and mainly ignorance.
Thankfully we don't live in a time when education is scarce. We all realize deep within us that basically we are all human beings, but sadly some of us are unable to shake off the dark prejudices that got ingrained within us by the bright light of education and awareness that we are all just human beings. Another factor fueling this dark practice is the human character of wanting to find a deeper meaning of life and consequently needing to feel important. One way of feeling important is by proactive positive actions which makes one feel better. Another way is to feel important is by classifying other people belonging to different caste/race/creed as less important than ones own group, thus automatically being more important than others.
Personally, I don't feel a need to feel more important than certain other castes, nor do I feel a need to be intolerant of anyone because they were born in a certain family/culture/country. If you are a good human being with nice human qualities, you have my respect. There is no need to classify you further. If you are a Nepali, then it's more fun because we share similar background in similar places, and we share a common love for Nepal - hence the reason sajha exists - to bring us together. If I am here to promote Newar and diss Bahuns, believe me, the time I spend on sajha is not worth it. I don't like to waste time on negativity.
If I delete a thread on Newar bashing as opposed to Bahun bashing, it's not because of my prejudice, but the prejudice of the thread originator. However if someone shares news items from other sites about some controversies surrounding a certain group of people, then in my opinion it's more about sharing news and opening sajha to a respectful and tolerant discussion than being outright racist. If you see that kind of threads as racist then perhaps you may need to reconsider your own prejudices. Once the discussion takes racist turns then I may have to moderate it, or the thread owner can do it as well.
Pardon me for going on tangents here but this is solely my opinion and please do feel free to disagree, but please don't start outright racist threads.
I agree with San ji on "Another factor fueling this dark practice is the human character of wanting to find a deeper meaning of life and consequently needing to feel important. One way of feeling important is by proactive positive actions which makes one feel better. Another way is to feel important is by classifying other people belonging to different caste/race/creed as less important than ones own group, thus automatically being more important than others."
But I totally disagree on- "Lot of times we are quick in making judgement of others due to our prejudices which are unfortunately beyond our control ." Prejudices are not beyond our control. In fact, prejudice can not only be controlled but also be directed to the way we want ... i.e. IFF the person really wants to do so.
And as usual, I cannot help but thank San for such a marvelous job of putting sajha together. Way to go!
Hmm .. may be I read the sentence incorrectly .... I think San ji meant "Lot of times we are quick in making judgement of others due to our prejudices" .... and quickly making such judgements are unfortunately beyond our control . Either way, my reply applies . ... "making judgements" and "prejudices" are both controllable and directable.
Raascal, pardon my sentence structures for not being clear to all, but, I do think that prejudices which are imbibed into our system from the time we were growing up, makes us judge things and it is beyond control for many people which is the reason why racism exists. It can be controlled with education and awareness. - which is why some people are racist and some are not.
Seiko, you asked a question directed at me so I answered to the best of my ability. But it seems like you are not satisfied with my answer. Perhaps, your prejudices are getting in the way of understanding my view on racism.
I want to know what I, as a newar, has done harm to u?
If some other newars have harmed you previously, would it be justifiable to categorise everyone to the same? If you answer it as 'yes', then when one Nepali does any harm to Americans here, you'll also need to be punished as 'A nepali', no matter whether you n' that Nepali belongs to the same caste or different coz' Americans know us only as 'Nepali' or even 'Asian'.
It is rather interesting to see characters like you in sajha, and the people like you really reflects the pathetic situation of our country. Perhaps, I should ask some of the psychologists in sajha to do some studies on your brain.
