Guys and girls,
I am undecided yet. But as a science student back home, I have taken few bio, physics and chemistry class. I have at least three semester to go and I have microbiology in mind a little bit. I thought about nursing, biotech and medical technology. But people say they are hard to read and get scholarships.
Sometime I think of a dual major like BS in Bio and MS in health care management. or BS in BIO and Master is Business Administration. Is dual program a good option to choose?
And will it be very hard for me to study business coz I have never taken any classes on business and finance?
What is the possibility of getting a job with a biology or chemisty major? Anybody has any experience to share?
I think some suggestions in Sajha are better than an advisors or counselors.
So hoping for your help.

dude you have so many choices...well in science anyway if you are any good in math the physics will cover your engineering too...do some research its better to figure out what you wanna do than asking someone...when you research you will find what you want and you will know more about it....

More than what I want to do, its more important that I have to study something which will help me get a job.

I am asking for market interest and not mine.

Study computer science if you want a safer future and easy money after you graduate. Biological sciencs (microbiology, biochem, neurobiology...) are hot subjects with thousands of biotech companies in America. But if you major in biological sciences, be prepared to get your PhD for a good job. Other option: do a double major in maths and biology and do masters in biostatastics - very well paid.

When in doubt, always go for what interests you. Even when not in doubt go for what interests you. A little advice from my own experience.

Study the business aspects of microbiology or biochemistry or Biotechnology, If u are not interested in doing research for your whole life..Phd takes a long time and is all about Research, working working working on Lab. You dont' wanna spend all ur life doing research, studying books, working in labs, working with bacteria and all that crap, do u ? If u wanna make money, try to do a dual degree(i m not quite sure about it) which will be good in finding a job in Industries or any other companies where u can choose a business side of Biology or something like that..Also nowadays i've seen People doing MS in Science(biochem or Microbio) + Law, which is good for making Money, ALSO BIOINFORMATICS would be a good choice too.or Like Killerspin Said...
I m going through a similar situation too but its just my thought.
Good Luck.

सब भन्दा पहिले त साईन्स पढेर गल्ती गरेउ।....पढ्न पनि गाह्रो, पैसा पनि धेरै नकमौने।

A master's degree

There are two graduate degrees: the master's degree and the more advanced doctoral degree. Both degrees involve a combination of research and coursework. At this level, study and learning becomes much more indepth and self-directed than at the undergraduate level.

A master's degree comes after a bachelor's degree. There are two main types of master's degrees:

An academic master's--the master of arts (MA) and the master of science (MS)--are usually awarded in the arts, sciences and humanities. The MS is also awarded in technical fields such as engineering and agriculture. Getting a master's degree requires coursework and original research. These degrees usually take one to two years to complete (or about 30 to 60 credit hours).

A professional master's degree leads to a specific profession rather than further study. For example, a master in business administration (or MBA), a master of social work (MSW.), a master of fine arts (MFA.) or a master of education (MEd) are all "terminal" programs that prepare students for specific jobs as managers, social workers, artists and teachers. Professional master's degrees are also available in journalism, architecture, urban planning and international relations. This degree emphasizes direct application of knowledge rather than original research.

Just as those who get bachelor's degrees earn more and advance further than those with only a high school education, students who go on to get a master's degree earn more and advance further than those with only a bachelor's degree. However, despite the many benefits of obtaining a master's degree, there is a caution. Graduate school is not the place for students to "discover" themselves. The work is intensive and highly specialized. By the time students advance into a master's program, they should have a very good idea of what they want to do with their advanced degree. In addition, there are some fields in which going to grad school may not be worth the trouble.

A doctoral degree or PhD

The doctoral degree is the final step on the educational ladder. This degree is designed to train research scholars and prepare students for a career in academia or in highly-academic applied fields like economics, physics or psychology.

The PhD (or doctor of philosophy) is the most common degree awarded at this level. Other doctoral degrees include the doctor of education (EdD) and doctor of business administration (DBA).

In order to get a PhD students need to attend courses and write a dissertation that is based on original research. PhD students usually need to take a comprehensive exam after several years of coursework. After that, they do research and then write a dissertation describing it. This usually takes an additional two to three years. When it comes down to it, a doctoral degree requires at least five to eight more years of study beyond a bachelor's degree. This requires not only financial resources, but also an ability to persevere.

Those pursuing this degree should also be aware that having a doctoral degree does not necessarily guarantee higher earnings or increased job security. Teaching at the college level is highly competitive and many recent PhD's have a hard time finding a job. Many find only part-time or temporary jobs that offer no job security and low pay. In fact, many people with PhD's who had planned on an academic career end up pursuing jobs outside of academia

khatepate, this is a question that you should be asking to yourself.
Explore Yourself , what are your interests???
If you study something of your interest then you will do it with sincerity & if you do it with sincerity then you are going to excel in it & if you excel in it then the MARKET will come to you.
Do what you want to do and not what others want you to do.
