Prachanda unfit to be Nepal's president: Minister Poudel Kantipur Report
KATHMANDU, June 26 - Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel on Tuesday said that Maoist Chairman Prachanda's "character" makes him unfit to hold the post of Nepal's president.
Speaking at a program in Pokhara today, Minister Poudel said the 21st century was the age of democracy but Prachanda and the Maoists still had the traits of authoritarians.
Poudel's remarks come in the wake of the Maoist Supremo Prachanda's recent interview with a foreign media in which he said that he would be the president of the country "in two years time".
Poudel also said the a climate for the conflict-displaced people to return their villages to participate in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections was still not ready because of the continued Maoist intimidations, extortions and lootings in the country.
Meanwhile, he also alerted the Human Rights activists, Civil Society leaders and civilians to correct the "undemocratic" activities of the Maoists and to prevent conspirators from becoming active.
