आउनुस् चुरोट छोडौं ! You smoke a pack a day=$5X365daysX3years (assumed)=$5,475xRs.65=Rs. 3,55,875 What would you have done with all this money? 1. Bought a Ropani land in outskirts villages of Kathmandu; leave it for another 2 years and get a return of almost thrice the amount 2. Buy/own a 2 bed room apartment house in the mushrooming apartments/condominiums around Kathmandu 3. buy a vehicle for your parents 4. deposit in ‘muddati’ account in finance companies in Kathmandu with double the amount return in 5 years 5. buy 60 nabil bank shares or 50 standard chartered bank shares and get almost 200% return in 2-3 years 6. invest in various sectors in Nepal or setup a cottage industry in your own village, mainstreaming and empowering the villagers and making Nepal a better place for your kids 7. Provide full scholarship (education and associated expenses @Rs500/monthX12 months=Rs 6000) for 59 worthy and needy students annually Number of smoking quitters Capital Generated Approx 1 355857 Rs 3.5 Lacs 10 3558750 Rs. 35.5 Lacs 100 35587500 Rs. 3 crore 55 lacs 1000 355875000 Rs. 35 crore 58 lacs 10000 355850000 Rs. 3 Arba 55 Crore 85 lacs Assume there are 50000 Nepali students in the US, that makes a total of Rs. 17792850000 OR Rs 17 Arba 79 crore 28.5 lacs i.e US$ 2 Billion 73 Million 736 Thousands An interest of 5.5% alone can generate US$49.75 Million I bet you want to quit right out of this guilt. To quit cigarette, you need to first start smoking. And at a point, just take a determination, and never smoke again, don't think it as a big-deal. First learn to trust but not to deceive yourself.

The best thing is to be frank and tell him that the smoke bothers you. Put it nicely and tell him if he can smoke outside the house only. Say it nicely but firmly. If you feel awkward, tell him exactly that. Tell him you feel awkward even telling him that. vj http://www.NepalNepal.com/

I had not tried quiting smoking until last week.. but it seems difficult. but i have been able to reduce it a lot. I personally think that reducing will be better option than quiting at once. if anybody has better idea, I am also eager to know.

saw this thread and wanted to say few words..
Its been 6 months since i quit and i don't have the urge like most people would say. Quiting is about your willingness. I have seen and done the REDUCE method but that does not really help. To make sure i do not carry packets with me i have even tried giving pack to friends so that i can only smoke when they are there but that does not help either. Reducing is no way to quitting.
And the most important thing in quiting smoking is avoid friends who smoke. As long as you have friend around you who puffs every five minutes i would say quitting is a BIG JOKE.
so what i did was, one morning i woke up and said "I am not smoking anymore". I still have my halft pack marlboro and 2 packs of SURYA sitting in my drawer. I did not throw them away just as a reminder that i quit and just in case i have a urge. But the good thing is i didn't have one for months and i don't think i will have one for years. Smoking is my submission to the bad habbit and i tried to distance myself now. It sure requires a strong will. And the half pack marlboro gives you just that.

I am smoke-free for 63 days and counting. My friend got cancer and I was scared as well and I immediately quit cold turkey. Don't hurt your lungs.
