Use Moneygram. It's the cheapest way to send money. www. moneygram.com to find location nearest your area and then in kathmandu

Few months back, Western Union reduced the remitance cost competitive to Money Grams. Western Union is accessible any major bank branch in Kathmandu whereas MoneyGram is accessible only in limited area in Kathmandu.

As for the process, go to any major grocery store such as Giants, Shoppers Food warehouse (depending which area you are) or any check cashed store. Fill up the form and hand them the cash. They will provide you control/transaction number and give that number to your receipeint/s. That's it.

As far as I know, upto $6,000 is around $30 and if it is under $999, the fee should be around 6/7 dollars.

And Importantly, Receipeints do not need to have Bank Account in Nepal or country of destination. All banks require is - citizenship copy in Nepal for identification.

Moneygram is easy. I am not sure if they have various fees depending on the amount you transfer. Once you fill up the required paperwork, there is a number provided which the receiver has to provide when they need to go collect the money. They (receiver)need some form of ID back home. And yes the trasnfer takes place in a blink of an eye.

best option is via muncha... I have tried moneygram (they gave me a sorry exchange rate), tried western union ( high cost and sorry exchange rate), and did the debit card as well when I was there (transaction costs too high and exchange rates are unfriendly as well , not to mention you can only draw out so much everyday via atms, and standing in line inside for teller is a nightmare). Muncha is fast, easy to set up and remembers who you sent it to , so you can do it again and again from your laptop within a minute.
