Going 2 Ghandruk
Have any of you guys been to Ghandruk?
What will be the best route to go to Ghandruk?
Please I need a good route plan.

Are you going to walk or take a bus?

Ghandruk is a short trek. Its lovely and and just a day walk or less. If you are flying, take a flight to pokhara. Then take a public bus to Baglung or Beni and get off at Nayapul. Or simply you can take any direct bus to Baglung/Beni. You can hire a cab to Nayapul as well. Nayapul is on the way to Baglung/Beni from Pokhara which is located in Pokhara-Baglung Highway. From Nayapul, its almost a day trek to Gandruk. Better get a map or ask someone on the way from time to time because there are a lot of trekking routes around this place so be sure take a right one. From Nayapul you have to walk along the side of Modi River. What I did is we stayed in a hotel in Syauli Bazar( its also a called kolte bhatti) . Then its like 4-5 hrs uphill trek to Ghandruk. Better stay near kolte bhattito so that your treak will be easier. This is the shortest route.

the best way to get to ghandruk is what nepalena told,u don;t need to keep on asking too, the only place where u can get confused is at birethati ,there u can ask some ppl about which way to take to ghandruk.Once u get to nayapul u will reach ghandruk in 4 hours and return the other day,so it is pretty short hike.If u would like to experience a real hike ,why don;t u go to annapurna base camp,that will b interesting?

The best route to Ghandruk is Nayapul-Ghandruk route. I was suggesting to take a correct route on the way because if someone misses the route, its painful to return to the right one. I have seen such cases. If the geographic condition is tough, then it will be worst. I had a similar kind of experience from high camp to churileter, where most of the hotels were closed, we were out of food and there was heavy snow fall. Worst of all, it was evening and we didnt have flash light. It was summer time and I was wearing a summer jacket.

However, if you do wish to embark on one of the most enticing and classic treks in the world, as listed in Hermann's trekking guides, without the use of any mode of modern transportation but just walk, you can do so by starting in Pokhara.

From Tundikhel, walk up to Sarankot (with the blue waters of Lake Phewa flowing below), heading towards Naudada (accompanied by the stunning scenery of both sides of Pokhara valley behind), leading towards Chitre and Lumle (taste the legendary delicious water from the fresh streams and eat a few freshly made "sel rotis" and recently plucked oranges there), approaching Chandrakot (where you can see the majestic mountains of the Annapurna range right in front as if you can touch them), going down towards Nayapul (ankles hurt a little bit), crossing the bridge, over to Birethanti (tasty lunch of "dal" and "bhat" with sizzling ghee over it served by Thakalis who really know the meaning of taste) and finally the uphill trek to the mighty village of Ghandruk (where Gurung clans have resided for over 800 years).

That, my friend, is the true and classic Pokhara to Ghandruk trek, as experienced countless times myself over the past thirty years as I went to and from my village.

Whilst trekking, never hurry but take the time to enjoy the wonderful environment and beauty around you. Believe me, it's worth every second.

I wouldnt forget taking some salt :P , as is said , to keep away from leeches .. And on certain stops where you'd like to take rest , ask for some local rakshi. That really gives you the energy to climb uphill with more exuberance. If you are lucky enough, you can see ppl merrying around at certain places.. with madaal and dances.

And to add up , dont forget to take a guitar ( few if possible ) and take some singers/players (friends). Start a camp fire , and dont sleep :P .. well , early in the morning , you shouldnt miss the golden mountains .. with the sun tryin' to possess the mountains as if HIS .

you do hava a lot of hotel, they now even have electricity so no need to worry.

once you are there why dont you take one or two more days to go to ghorepani through tadapani,
you will have one of the majestic sunrise view from poonhill (3200m)and you will be more closer to mountains (annapurna range) than from ghandruk , if the weather favours you.You can then return back through tatopani, beni. you can take a bus or a cab from beni to pokhara, in tatopani, you can have a hotspring bath (a very natural one).

throughout the route you will get well facilitated hotels, restaurants and whatever ....
have a great trek and hope you have good muscles.

Use the hiking route from Nayapul; Ghandruk is only a day away if you walk faster. Annapurna Base Camp is only 3 days away if you can walk fast enough, however take your time about 5 to 6 days you will get there and you won't miss picturesque views. Machhapuchhere Base Camp is on the way. After MBC it is awesome landscape. So don't forget to take decent camera.

it is very difficult to walk coz of Steep hills. Straight down to the gorge and straight up to the top of the hill.

We rushed and couldn't see all the areas but you take your time when you hike. It is not expensive.

Even though Ghandruk is a village steeped in its Gurung tradition dating back to many centuries, it is, in fact, a modern settlement that is forward-looking and upward in its development mainly due to the influence of ex Gurkha soldiers and police officers who, upon retiring from services in England, Hong Kong and Singapore, brought these ideas back home and managed to get them up and running with the help of agencies such as ACAP. There is a wide range of hotels and motels that cater to all types of visitors from luxurious to budget and furthermore, what amazes me is that most of them have solar heaters and bio-gas plants installed in their establishments for heat and electricity. This, along with plenty of fauna surrounding the area (once again, thanks to ACAP) is mainly the key reason why the air around the village is still clean and refreshing.

Oh man ...GHANDRUK !!! Was the best hiking i have ever done. Went to ghandruk from Nayapul. In the middle of the hiking you'll come across a Fall.. "jharana". If its not cold don't forget to dip in. Its really nice, with a small gufa inside the jharana. Just swim through the jharana and you'll find a nice gufa there... not too big but looks awesome and "jharana ko pani" looks like a door infront of it. A spectacular view I must say. Then after u get to Ghandruk don't stay in just any hotels. I will recommend you "The Hill TOP Hotel" ... It's a nice motel with "Nilo Rangeen Jasta Pata". When you get up early morning.. don't forget to capture those lights reflecting from annapurna range. You heart will definitely stop for sec. One of the best view i have ever seen. Be sure to go to Tato Pani... its not that far from Ghandruk. There a natural Hot spring water just infront of a cold river. It relaxes u and all your hiking tiredness. Anyways, we stayed in that place for 2 days. Showed some khaires card trick and heard an american girl sayin "F**" word after every sentence. We were mesmerized. Anyways, dont forget to take some salt for the leeches.... if it rains...leeches are bound to suck ya blood... so beware. Anyways, i'll write more about it later. Have fun.... it will sure be a great adventure for you.
