If u stamp out one another one will pop out. so the best thing to do in my opinion is legalize it and regulate it.
Although we, the moral police, cannot stamp out sex-market, we can regulate it. To regulate the market, you have to legalize the trade. Then start out with regulatory policies. Make it a rule that these places need a special license. Avoid giving these license to restaurants that are near residential areas or schools. For simplicity, lets say there can only be cabin-restaurants in certain area of baneshowr or thamel. All employees working in these restaurants must be over a certain age.

As I am against prostitution I can only comment on full control, and to stop it; because there are lots of girls who are forced in to this branch, with or without their will. Children’s mind is like a blank piece of paper, what ever you write on it sits there for the rest of their life. So if a child is grown up among a families, groups, and societies; where bad things are practiced as the way of life and that it is the right way, then, these kids when they grow up will never change. They will keep on practicing that for the rest of their life, and will teach their children such way of life. This is a fact that none can deny.

My friend was riding a bike; I was at the back wearing dirty helmet. I did not know where were heading for. The only thing I was sure about was it was going to be a heavy dinner free of cost. Bakery Cafe was my choice. But to my surprise he pushed his brakes of Chinese machine near big and dirty house at Old Baneshwor.

I just followed him. To obey him was better for me as it was a treat by him for his result in +2. We entered restaurant; group of damsels was giggling at reception counter. There was cheap carpet on the floor. A fast Hindi number was on air, which made environment worse.


We took seat in a private cabin; all cabins were partitioned with thin plywood and velvet curtains. The moment we reserved our seats a young waitress wearing chiffon outfit came to receive order and went away. I could clearly see a slow excitement in my friend's face. After a while, she came back this time with 100% artificial and hideous smile. She sat between two of us in no place. My friend dabbed her both hands and asked like a true paramour, " What will you take sweetheart?" "Beer" she replied without a second thought.


In the meantime, I kept on observing her. Transparent T-shirt, local blue jeans, two big earrings and painted dark lips. Every now and then she was chuckling showing her 32 teeth. But to tell you truth, she was realy HOT.

No, I could not believe all these. Though I have read and heard a lot about clandestine cabin restaurants, dance restaurants and massage centers. It was hard to believe. Now I have witnessed and experienced myself still I was hesitated to believe that.

The environment had changed then. We asked her to behave like a good friend. On our request she shared some plaintive and pathetic incidents. When she was sick for one-month house owner was about to ask her to leave and there was not even a penny left for her treatment. She covered face and whimpered “ How could have I survived without this work”


Meanwhile she said “ Different types of men come here spend money, use us and returned back and the very people labelled us characterless outside”. What is character and who are characterless? The men who deceive and delude their wives and girlfriend and squander money and time or the helpless and dejected girls like her who have nothing to do but survive?


She also shared her plan, she had applied for sales girl job in some show rooms in New Road and looking forward to hear from them.It was time to leave, our bill was of Rs 900, my friend gave Rs 1000 and asked her to keep the change but she denied. She said it would be a great tips for her if she could not see us again in the cabin. We wonder how quickly the relationship could be created. She was sad when we left perhaps because after a long time she could share her feelings with some strangers. As we moved out, two muscular guys entered the restaurant, immediately she brought her artificial smile back to greet them.
