I'm in Australia now. After completion of my studies (in Mar 2007), I'm planning to migrate to Canada. Do you guys believe its a good idea? Would like to hear about your experience in Canada, regarding life, job, future and all those stuff. Please suggest. And also please recomend some good Nepali migration agents for Canada.
G'Day!

Thanks Nails for your suggestion.

I've seen nepalis living here for 10 years 12 years . . . and still driving cabs or working for supermarket. To become a grocery manager in a supermarket is "many" peoples dream. and guess what, they have all sorts of fancy degree like Masters in IT or Accounting and so forth. There are handful of people who have a career in line to their studies. Its so frustrating. I want to try some another countries, if I find the same s h i t in Canada . . . I'll better go back to Nepal. But, for a couple of years I want to "EXPLORE" another hemisphere of the globe.

you know whaT? without knowing or expereince, don't be so stupid to believe all these websites like "notcanada.com", you cannot trust anything unless you see it! So if you don't like Canada, fine don't go there, some of you on sajha may dislike Canada but that's not gonna affect canada,

According to 2005, Canada is one of the world's top 5 best living countries!
Canada also has the best health care after New Zealand. It's not like US where you have to wait for hours for any check up or where you have to pay lots of money whereas it's free in canada except for the dental care. Tax depends on how much money you make, if you're very rich, you pay lot of tax, if you've low salary, you may not have to pay tax at all. So its all even, its better than America, also in culture, Canada lets people keep their culture unlike the US. US is world's 10th best living country, now Canada's definitely better at living comparing to the US.

I would strongly advise anyone from going to canada at this time - except of course the maoists are behind you with an axe or gun...even then I would think twice. I am saying this with the knowledge and experience I have shared closely with people whose dreams were shattered. Of course, if you are looking for jobs in the supermarket and cab driving, I don't have much to say. The country is basically coming out of a decade long depression triggred by the incompetent rule of the then prime minister with a french name. His gov't totally F***ed up the whole system and the economy of the country and of course the immigration system sucks!!! Really sucks!! Check out the other link in nocanada.com and the see the video....

Oz,

Life won't be a piece of cake eventhough you go to Canada or any other country in the world.. Its same everywhere.. Life overseas is really challenging as we all know.Language, culture, money, home sick, lack of confidence are the major factors we come accross living overseas. Driving a cab or working in the supermarket is not the bad thing in the beginning or if someone likes they can do that for ever as well. Student life is really tough everywhere except Nepal where our parents pay our fees. But once we finish our studies, we can look for the job what we like in our field. Get some experiences and there we go..

PG - I was referring to a career job - once you have got a degree. ..would you like to live a life as a cab drive when you know you have masters in some Java programming?

DP77,
I dunno what you are referring to.. I was giving my point of view to Mr OZ regarding the life overseas no matter where you go..Its not just Aus its everywhere...
I was saying once we finish our studies, we can look for the job what we like in our field. Unfortunately I dunno about Java Programming job that you are talking about but in my field it wasn't hard to get a job..
Its hard to get the experience though..But once we get experience, it its not hard to get a job...

. You know oz what's the best you can do? Apply and become a Canadian resident. Come to Canada. Then come into the U.S because with a Canadian passport, you can easily enter the U.S. Then once you are in the U.S., stay here. Because let me tell you something: America is where you should be. It's the best.

Oz,

Sacrifice is the word! Stop being selfish and think about the future for ur kid/s. otherwise, there is an option of returning to NePal. Just give me a reason why u'd opt to live anywhere except NePal. cheers!!

Thanks guys and gals, for all your views.
I know Power Gal, life ain't gonna be a piece of cake. . . life is never easy. The ultimate goal is happiness, I ain't happy living here in Australia, who knows . . . I might find my destination in Canada. Yes, as mickthesick said, there's an easier wayof getting to USA. Well, USA is not my target but could be a good backup plan . . . .

Anybody just migrated to Canada? How long was the process and how tough was that? Did u go through an agent? or did it yourself?

Thanks again
Namaskaar

i was thinking about migrating to Australia .. i am in usa right now.. but now i decided to just stay here.. people always think some other country is better... its an illusion...

iv heard that canada is a racist work place, hard to get a good job... thats only something i heard from others who heard from others.. but i think it is sort of true...

australia and usa i think are very good choices... australia currently is having a great economy and jobs are everywhere i heard... ofcourse usa, there are always jobs available if u want to work.
