Kiran Chetry joined Fox News Channel in 2001 and serves as a news update anchor. Prior to joining Fox News, Chetry was a morning anchor and reporter for KXTV in Sacramento, California. Prior to her stint there, she served as the main anchor and health reporter for WICU-TV, Erie, Pennsylvania from 1996 to 1999.
Those who watch Fox News Channel are might be thinking about the lady's different Name than other Americans. The reason is that she is the daughter of Nepali Father Hom Chetry and American Mother. She is not only a beautiful reporter but also a very talented anchor. Chetry began her career in journalism in 1995 as a reporter for News 21 in Rockville, Maryland. 1n 1997 she received the Best Enterprise Reporting award from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association for her series
"Young and Hooked," which looked at teen smoking. Chetry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland’s College of Journalism.

she is just a televison anchor doing her job like teachers, lawyers, engineers , doctors. We have habit of looking people differenetly when somebody works on televison. I dont think televison presentor are special people.

wtf u guys talking about. She is special among us nepali folks. Don't shed ur who cares attitude. If Kiran identifies herself as a Nepalese, i'm proud of her. I will applaud in her success. Bidhan bra, TV anchor in the US is one helluva glamourous job.

I have a hunch that many portray her as a 'nepalese success story' and I don't exactly understand why. It's not her fault that she's got a Nepalese dad.

There are abundance of other news women (of different ethnicity) of equal or much greater affluence than her in the news business; what makes her any different? Is she a Barbara Walter or a Connie Chung, etc..?

If she's made it as other news women in the field of journalism then she should be commended for her work. That's it. None of that 'Proud Nepali' or 'Proud American' stuff...these words are used by fanatics, and should only be used when encroached IMHO.

I am proud of being a Nepali too. Sometimes in my free time I wonder what exactly I am proud of. It's hard to find what exactly I am proud of.
