It is worthless to argue with Maoist supporters on this issue since they are running with the ideology that revolution can be achieved by gun and bullets rather than winning the heart of people.

If "labeling" them will not solve the problem how can "not labeling" them solve the problem? I do not think that labeling will make much difference in their attitude or their behavior. If they denounce violence and agree to punish those who committed crimes against humanity within their party then only the label should be removed and they should be allowed to roam freely. Until they are held accountable for their crimes they should be called terrorists at least those who are responsible for hineous crimes. Regardless of their label they will always be called killers, murderers, dacoits, rapists and inhumane bunch of lunatics.

Of course they are terrorists. They are setting a very bad precedent that anything can be attained in Nepal if you can take criminal activities in an organized manner.

It is a very apalling sign.

They may or may not enter mainstream politics. Let us suppose they do. Can anyone just start killing others coz they dont believe in communism? After all, communism is a rule by force and it is in their charter and they are showing lots of signs of imposing it.

Are Maoists terrorists? I don't think so. Revolutionaries? Yes! The palace called them 'terrorists' because it was so convenient for them. It makes America and India happy and they can get all the military aid they want, they can then use the aid to clamp down on civil liberties of Nepali people, muzzle press freedom, and perpetrate 'state terrorism'. The recent janandolan in Nepal 's loud and ringing message to the palace and to the world at large was: down with state terrorism perpetrated by the palace and its chamcha government. Calling Maoist rebels 'terrorists' provided the palace and its chamcha government a cover to practice even more heinous state terrorism. As the Nepali saying goes: "Jo chor uskai thulo swor."

Look at it whichever way, the Janandolan’s verdict is clear: the public enemy number 1 of Nepal is autocratic monarchy, not Maoist Insurgency.

The Maoist insurgency was a historical imperative: you cannot overthrow a 200-plus year of oppressive and now obsolete institution of monarchy with mere rhetoric. Little bit of fireworks is called for. I think a new Nepali order is kicking to be born. If natural delivery is not possible, then it has to be a Cesarian, right?

Even poet Bhupi said it: bandaina muluk dui char saput marera na gaye, the line that the panchay-mandalays co-opted. If people had been dying to support monarchy, well sure, but they have been dying to overthrow monarchy – the symbol of all that is wrong with Nepal: feudalism, patriarchy, Hindu fundamentalism, with its caste system, ‘afno manchhe syndrome”, etc etc. Look at France (French revolution), even America (civil war/fight for independence), China (overthrow of the imperial order with "mandate from heaven").

The new order, if it comes to fruition in Nepal, would send a message that ‘no one has mandate from heaven to rule Nepal”, not even the so-called Bishnu-incarnate. That king is god is not even a myth, it’s a lie.

In light of this, why are people in Sajha.com even discussing 'jhina mina' topics like: are Maoists terrorists? Of course NOT. Better to look at a bigger/historical picture, rather than dwell on ‘jhina mina’ topics.

God knows what they are.

But the cause for which they  struggled is worth some 'claps'.

They have changed the history of the country.Who would have imagined ..Nepal to be a republic where people could  make their own constitution?

Who could dare to fight for proportional representation in a country dominated by a small circle centralized in the capital.

Whatever the means...the cause and the new beginning may be worth the struggle and worth the pain.

Just hope they also have clearer and modern strategy to move ahead from their jungle days. They now seem to be pretty lost and trapped .Hope they now look for not commandos but intellectuals who can shape the country  in all the right ways.

They claim to be a political party and may be fighting for the political cause.

However, their activities are no way justified. They kidnap people whoever they like and kill them mercilessly. Isn't this a true example of dictatorship? We are fighting for overthrowing one dictatorship and, in turn,  to invite another. Nepal's history is full of countless fights and how many more fights we are still looking for.

From the recent activities of maoists, it appears to me that they went to the government as a part of thier strategy to capture the state. They have been successful to some extent. They pushed their cadres into various machanism of the government including bereaucracy and consolidated their position. However, they could not achieve as much as they had expected.  Despite their being able to consodate their position in higher level, they were graudually losing their grip in the grassroot. They were not able to justify their past deed. Their faces were smeared by the blood of 13000 people. They had had lot and lot of pain. There was no excuse and they were finding a way to go out of the government. Therefore they put the demands of PR system and declaration of republic before the CA election in the eleventh hour.

Yes, Nepalese people are in favor of republic. They do not want to be the slaves of one person or instition whatsoever. They want freedom. Freedom is no way linked with the political leaders. Freedom is freedom. Our leaders may not be capable enough to lead our country and represent the people's aspiration now. It does not mean that we have to hand over the reign of the country to dictators, in any form and manifestation, who is/are never satiated with the blood of the people.

MAOISTS ARE A PART OF THE LEGITIMATE MOVEMENT UNDER COMMUNISM. THE ERROR ON PART OF THE  MONARCHY AND OTHER POWER PLAYERS IN NEPAL  IS THAT THEY CALLED MAOISTS TERRORISTS AND HOOLIGANS AND BRUSHED THEM ASIDE. NOW THE EASY BRUSHING HAS HAD ITS CONSEQUENCES.

They r actually not terrorist, but they r the great killer. I feel shame to consider them to be Nepali, these killer forced govt to make sambidhan sabha votings at 1st and now they r saying to transfer the date. its coz they know they r not going to win and no janta will vote for them if they don't force them by gun.
They should be eliminated from the society. We can't see good future of nepal by giving the control of govt to these killers. If they really fight for the people's right, let them win the people's heart at first, else Maobadi= Murdabad.
