~ Another sad news. ~ All ten security personnel on board the MI-17 helicopter of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) that crashed in Kholachour area of Sarlahi district early Thursday morning have died. A press statement issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the chopper, which was carrying reinforcement troops to avert the Maoist attack in Sarjlahi district headquarters, Malangwa, lost contact with the control tower at 13:35 a.m. and was found in Kholachour at around 6:00 a.m. 10 army men on board including pilot Major Ashok KC and co-pilot Subhash were killed in the crash. Eyewitnesses said they saw smoke coming out of the chopper from its engine on the rear side and that rescuers found the materials inside the chopper intact. The MoD also ruled out the claim of the Maoists that the chopper had been downed by them. Quoting the RNA’s technical team that investigated the site, the statement said that the chopper was fitted with armoured plated on its bottom and that the rebels are not known to have weapons to shoot down this type of chopper, which was flying beyond shooting range when it met with the accident. Earlier, in a statement, Maoist supremo Prachand claimed that his fighters had gunned down the helicopter. nepalnews.com mk Apr 06 06

Quote "lost contact with the control tower at 13:35 a.m. and was found in Kholachour at around 6:00 a.m." What kind of time is that..13:35 a.m .. shouldn't it be 1:35 a.m or 13:35 PM?

Dear Obrian: You said "We have to be proud of our men in uniforms." The men in uniform that kill innocent villagers accusing them of being Maoist. Then men is uniform that torture innocent to make them say I am maoist. Your men in uniform to protect the autocratic , non democratic Kingdom. Your men in uniform will hide into holes if China or India would invade us. I have no respect to them. It is sad that they have to do this to protect the Kingdom.

All choppers should down as soon as possible. Fuking this chopper killing innocent villagers in our village. i know how much these troops and chopper scared us. They don't have eyes to recognize who is rebel and who is public. I still rememeber what they have done for me and my brother when i was at my home. By the way thank u very much for good news. I hope same kind of news in future tooooooooooooooo.

I know it is no fun getting caught in a cross fire but rather than blaming the bullet that was fired towards you or taking the anger against the gun that was used, or the equipment used against you, or the chopper we need to find the cure for the problem and fix the root cause of the problem. I pay respect and condolences to the departed soldiers, may their souls rest in peace!
