Sometime back San asked for new ideas to keep Sajha more relevant. One such idea might be to host a torrent tracker server. There are already threads in the Kurakani offering links to download Nepalese Songs/Videos. Instead of just offering and downloading a low quality version of Nepalese Songs/Videos hosted on a file server site, high quality torrents can be made available by users such as Neupane - and others will appreciate it. I know I will. Of course, the tracker has to be moderated.

yea, as long as its nepali and the nepali artists don't sue the website its fine. english songs can be dangerous because torrent was recently attacked by RIAA for filesharing illegal copies of music and movies. so nepali people, artists, if they dont care, its cool :D

hmm...well its good for us, but I feel sorry for the artists. After all, this is their way of earning their bread. And we R robbing them from it. But then...I like the freebie :P

There is no point in seeking a moral high ground if you cannot act on it. The point is - like it or not sajha kurakani section is already being used to trade/request in Nepali Songs/Videos. The available options are: i. Sajha admin can ban such activities totally ii. Sajha users can pledge never to enjoy a unauthorized song/video from now on iii. do nothing iv. do something to enhance the user experience Now i. and ii. are highly unlikely. (iii) is the default while my suggestion corresponds to (iv).

Turning Sajha into a video and music download site is not what can be termed "improving the Sajha experience. There are enough sites for that already. What is needed is a few people with a developed intellect who can bring some relevan topics to this forum. San tried to set up a Political forum which no one cared to contribute to? Why not. If all you want to do is talk about music, videos then I don't see any hope for reviving this forum. There is a lot of junk posting here and that is why the site is not thriving. Lets have a few intellecturals post here, and support their threads by posting a reply without the usual criticism of the person posting, deleting their comments, and generally belitteling the few who do no want to see this site die.

The so called "Intellectuals" probably can live on politics alone. For the rest of us - we - at least occasionally - need the so called "junk". If sajha is for the so called "intellectuals" only, then I have nothing more to say. Last time I checked "sajha" implied everyone. BTW - mine was a mere suggestion. I do agree with the observation that there are enough sites offering song/video downloads. I can and do appreciate criticisms that have merit. However "belitteling" anybody - no matter who - is not a worthy trait. Especially not for a self professed "intellectual".

Bill, Everybody is included here and if you think "your" intelluctual topics need norturing, then ask the adminstration for a separate post like the politics. What is your credential anyway to be called or want to be involved in "intellectual" topics? Anyway your def of intellectual is defenitely "politics of all sorts or how Nepal needs improvement while you're living abroad". I definetly believe that we need a torrent tracker. Bill, by the way do u know what it means?

that's a good idea but will not be good for sajha. Exchanging files through personal servers are sole responsibility of the users. If sajha facilitates any more than this, it may come under question. We can simply go by this, but not the organization... anywho, my 1 penny.

Neupane is probably right. To his credit - it was his postings that made me nostalgic and reminiscing. Oh how I miss home! And at the same time I could not help but wish that the quality (both audio and video) was better. As if a higher quality audio and video would ameliorate my suffering. Now - Neupane (and others too) probably have the higher quality versions. Hosting the higher quality ones in a personal file server might not be feasible. Others - at least me - driven by nostalgia - long for them. Do you see a circular dependency forming? Hosting a torrent tracker does not consume bandwidth to the same extent as hosting files themselves. So it might not hurt San/Sajha financially. But as Neupane pointed out, it might hurt San/Sajha in some other way. So I go back to my circle. Will someone help break it?
