Number one striker Basanta Thapa to quit Nepalese football Scripting the same story but shocking and expensive for Nepalese football, contemporary number one striker Basanta Thapa is going to disappear from his flying soccer career to make a life in Japan. Basanta has got student visa for Japan and will depart soon not to come back to the league after Dashain. The 28 year old ace is to leave his dream of 100 league goals unfulfilled and further to sacrifice his potentials to govern Nepalese frontline for some years more so as to secure his individual future. This is the second time that the number one striker lets go of his reign in the football of the nation. Two years ago, Nirajan Rayamajhi went to Germany basically for money-worry-free future. Basanta is now the highest pay player of domestic football. His dear side Manang Marsayangdi is currently paying him 22 Thousand Rupees per month. He did not accept a lucrative offer of league holders Three Star put forward for President Cup held in Kathmandu. MMC clearly to suffer hard in his absence has already brought in Ritesh Thapa to replace him. Ritesh will cooperate with Birat Thapa in the offence line of many time champions. The national side will too be hit hard without this star who could equally draw magic in both midfield and offence. Basanta, now enjoying the highest count of 15 goals in ongoing league, was awarded SoccerAgeNepal player of the year last season. Source www.socceragenepal.com

I dont blame him at all. As they say, its a f***ing free world. If Nepal doesnt want him to leave, Nepal should be able to RETAIN him. Wish him good luck

Dear all, capitalism speaks!!! We as a Nepali are on a learning curve here. But for sure it is a happy sight to learn that MCC pays 22K/mo. Olden times, I remember the JCC* players breaking their knees and foot for no cause at all. cheers! Uhi Rajeev, VA, Amrika ps JCC stands for famous football team from Jankapur Cigarettee Factory.

thats a sad fact that Basanta Thapa is leaving for Japan and yes Nepalese football willl miss his absence. and yes it is sad to be a nepalese player but atleast the club was paying him 22000 rs and that is quite smth as compared to other professional players. he is one good player and i think he should continue to play for his club but oh well thats his personal decision. and why only Basanta Thapa to be cornered for leaving for Japan.... all this wesite is based on America, what about the Non sportspeople but who could still still contribute to the well being of the nation. seems like a big talk dont it.....
