I got a problem. I be arriving in Minneapolis-St. paul airport in Aug 22, 10:55 pm and need to get to Mankato on Aug 23 for my Mandatory orientation by 8:00 am. I checked Shuttle services and there is non fitting my schedule. I would really appriciate if you guys know anybody who can give me a ride from Minneapolis to Mankato.

I am trying to contact few guys from Mankato if they can pick me up but its not sure. If you guys know anybody that can hellp me please let me know. I don't think mandatory orientiation is mandatory. I know that coz I didn't attend mine. But it's definitely helpful if you attend as you'll know about the different things unless you have friends on campus to walk you over everything.

just that i dont want to miss it if it is possible. i still have to register for classes

Kool keta u shouldnt come with such a narrow time limit, probably u faced such situation due to ticket problem. Generally you will get cab type shuttle which is not expensive from mpls airport. Well it would be good if your friends can pick you up, but dont worry

Still if you couldnt reach orientation on time, dont worry. If you explain your condition to the International office, they will handle the problem.

thanks nepaleon for the schedule. yeah i had talked to Iinternation student center but they said i would have to make up the orientation in 2nd semester or somwthing like that. now why would i attend the orientation after i am all familer with the college already??
I just wanted to attend all orientation because i am new to the university and register for classes etc.

You can take the greyhound bus to mankato on that day. The bus leaves from St.Paul at 6am but reaches mankato only at 8:25am. If you can't find a ride at all maybe this would be a good choice but you would probably have to take a cab to the bus stop. Mankato is like 75 miles from the airport so a cab ride all the way is gonna be damn expensive.

Rent a car. Use citi card. Will cover basic insurance. This will be much easier for you. Print out the maps. Have fun.

Why don't u ask your international student advisor to send someone to pick you up from MSP airport?? Most of the schools do that...otherwise how do they expect you to reach the school if you r new to the country and u don't know anyone...so go ahead n ask for that....

nepali_kanchi, i dont think there is bus at 6:00 am, even if there is i would reach mankato at 8:25 am and it will be late when i get to campus and i would have to take care of other stuff too.

dreamz, i would ask advisor but it is late at night. I have met a dude yesterday, he said there is a train running from minneapolis to mankato. do u guys have any info about that? He also said if nothing else works he will hook me up with a ride. but if possible i dont want to bother them. If u guys know about train please let me know.

So after you land in US where have you planed to stay? I bet with a friend or somebody you know right? so why not just call them and have them pick you up. If you have not planed what to do and where to stay after ur arrival, then my fren, u got bigger problem then just the transportation.

cool_keta, I checked the schedule in greyhound.com, and i've had friends use that before. But i don't know about the rail, i've never heard of any train going to mankato from st.paul except maybe cargo. Are you transferring from another US univ. or coming from nepal?

That kid has been in US for the long time. So asked whether kid got citi card. It covers basic insurance. If you rent a car then you got the freedom. For a day it does not cost much. It was just a freindly suggestion.

i been in US for 3 years transferring to mankato actually. I have told couple of frens to pick me up but its gonna be hassle for them because its an arduous drive. If possible i wanna get a transportation. but it doesnt seem like things gonna work out. If u guys know any info or anybody from mankato who can arrange me a ride please let me know.
