Wod of advice. Prepare well for GRE. About 1 to 2 month should be good enough. Apply for assistanship. Try to contact profs personally. Find out research prospects. Pick at least 5 unis ranging from middle tier to higher tier. Try on all the diff tier unis and pick the one in the hihest tier that provides u assistantship.

All the best. Try for assistanship. If you are thinking MS without assistanship and hoping it to cover your expenses working then you would struggle a lot. At work and also at studies.

Anyways all the best.

I also recommend you to go ahead and write the GRE. You will be better off to apply in good universities if you have a descent score in it. Moreover, GRE is not that bad thing either to get scared off. A couple of months preparation will be enough. Go for it.

All the best.

I don't even think you need high verbal scores. So just a week worth of studying is enough to get you through the quantitative section. EE doesn't have much opportunities unlike software engineering. So unless you plan on being jobless after you graduate, I suggest you take the GRE, and study in an ABET accredited EE school. Never take the easy way out. It's gonna haunt for the rest of your life, coz you have control over the two months before you take the GRE but once you graduate with a degree, you have no choice but to accept what you get.

I do not fully agree with this ranking. Follow the one from USNEWS. They have some authentic criteria for ranking the universities. Also since you are looking for graduate school, look for the graduate school ranking in the latest USNEWS bulletin.

Yeah I was looking for the US News Ranking too but somehow it's a paid service now it seems. Nothing comes for free. But this would be 10% error I guess. I still see the top schools there.

Fountaindew,
Some good universities are way down in the list you provided. Also since guys here are asking for grad school, the list you provided is not going to be too much useful. I do have the USNEWS best grad schools list but darn, it's in hard copy.

Wtf,
Let me know your area of concentration. I may be able to point out some good companies. You can always google or post your resume in online job seeking portals like Monster and Careerbuilders...

Hyperthread,
I don't think Okstate does not ask for GRE.
