Thanks for sharing your experience raajoo. So were you out of status for too long as well? And how long does it takes to get Advance Parole to be approved. I was thinking of doing it through immigration attoreney just to be on safe side. Or do I just do it myself ?

If you have listen to what Keshav Sedhain said in the live interview (you can watch at khasokhas.com), you do not want to take risk of leaving the country for the next 180 days. This is just a vulnerable situation to travel outside the country.
My suggestion is to avoid any such uncanny situation, you never know at the POE.

Hi,
I was out of status for five years, got TPS, applied AP myself and travelled. Getting onboard US bound flight from Delhi was easy. They treat AP just like a visa, so no issues there. Landed at JFK around 7am. It wasn't busy. Time to face Customs now. Showed the immigration officer my passport, ap. Took my fingerprints like everybody else. The officer called another CBP officer and he guided me to secondary inspection room. It was a large room with seats where other travellers with AP were waiting. After waiting 2 minutes, I was asked to come in front by a CBP officer. He didn't ask me anything about my travel. I previously was placed in removal proceedings which I had closed the case just before travel. The officer typed my A-njmber in his computer and asked me did you see the judge? I replied, "The judge closed my case". He asked, "What do you mean"? I replied, "I never saw him, it was done through motion because I got TPS". He then looked at my AP and said tps people cannot travel. I said yes they can, therefore given a travel document. His co-worker laughed silently listening to our conversation. The officer then consulted with his co-worker and stamped my AP and gave it to me. I wondered whether i was free to go now because he didn't utter you may go now. I then asked him after 15 seconds, can I go? He said "Yes"!
That's my experience. It was pleasant.

Tips:
1. If you can, get the ticket where u land at POE as early as possible (12am-7am ideal) cause its not bg  at this time.
2. Print USCIS memoranda which says, "TPS holders can purely travel for vacation not only for humanitarian reasons" to show it to rookie immigration officers.
3. And of course, passport, ap, tps letter, court letter (if u have one)
4. Correct the immigration officer if u need to cause Sometimes, they don't know the laws about special cases.

Happy Travelling!!!!

I travelled six months ago. Travel ban doesnt apply to Nepalese, but you might face harsh questions and screening so be prepared to answer to IO.

Also there are certain countries which require you to have a transit visa while coming back if you dont have a US visa so try to avoid that transit. UK is one of them.

For AP, typically takes 90 days. For me, It took two weeks cause i requested to expedite by writing a letter and calling after a week of receipt notice. My grandmother was 92 and ailing. From what I have heard and seen, it depends on who will be reviewing your request. I wasn't asked to provide any documentation. If you have a medical emegency, be sure to include it in the AP request. Write the word "EXPEDITE" on top right of first page of i-131 form. Include the request as cover letter.

You can only expedite under humanitarian reasons. So in your case, apply as regular.

you can file yourself provided you never had to see a judge or police in that matter. clean as a whistle other than being out of status
