Hello Sajha friends,

I finished my Associate degree in accounting and was thinking to join bachelor degree. Now I'm kinda feeling unsafe regarding the future career in accounting. I have two friends who finished their bachelor in accounting about 7 months ago and haven't got job yet.So Now i'm thinking to do associate degree in some computer program like Linux/Cisco system administration which is one my interest subject after accounting. Do you guys think it is the right decision? which one do you guys think is better in term of job and easy to learn.
any suggestion will be appreciated.

Go for Computer Science. Better career and pay. Considering pay, tests (CPA exams), and all, you're better off studying computer science.

Network security is something that you could look into. Since you studied Accountancy, you must be good with maths. Programming might interest you as well.

If you are on F1, better change your major from accounting to something more technical.

Hold your horses. First of all, take the advice from Sajha with a grain of salt, including mine. We really aren't any expert and will advice you based upon what happened to us and few people we know. There are too many variances and variations around the world and you should consider other prospects.

Now, first of all, accounting not having a good career prospective, false! There are degrees that I would never suggest you to take if your goal is to get a job quick, and those degrees do NOT include accounting. If you go to a credible/decent school and actively involve yourself in internship opportunities then you might be able to find good accounting jobs. Big Fours and other smaller firms are always looking for fresh talents as the need for an accountant is always there and the want to have fresh supply of your students (less expense, good potential to mold etc).

Yes, being a techie, it might be a little more easier to get a job; but I suggest that you don't take that degree if you never had any interest in that.Relatively it is easier, but don't discount accounting either..it's no social science.
